This is my first wallpaper made completely in Illustrator. The idea was to make a wallpaper that is as much about the song "Northern Cross" as it is about the character in the image.
The first step was finding a suitable source image. I knew that I wanted to portray Sheryl singing, of course; in addition, I wanted to convey her cute and yet slightly voluptuous character as well. I couldn't find any satisfactory scans, so I took around fifty screencaps from the final episode, took the best one, and traced it.
I had originally envisioned the wallpaper using a bright monochromatic color palette along the lines of, say, the art of the Lucky Star remix album cover. It didn't turn out looking good when I tried it, and so I just colored it "normally."
