PREFACE
Have been hit by a lot of walling ideas lately, all of which already have been made into wallpapers (Natsu no Arashi, Hayate no Gotoku and Fate/Stay Night). But I think this might be the last wallpaper for awhile. I haven't seen any other scans or screenshots in my HD that I felt like walling and I think ideas are drying up again.
IMAGE
Got it off the imouto imageboard (link below). Rather than using normal vector to retrace a larger image version, I opted for the pen tool with stroke on pressure simulation function enable. I wanted to experiment with a different kind of feel in the retraced version. As you can see from the wallpaper, the lines tapers off and fades away, leaving some gap between lines which will be filled in by the solid colors that further acts as a boundary.
The advantage of stroking this way is that retracing it is extremely fast and the end result has that rather unique feel to it compared to normal vectoring.
BACKGROUND
Same concept as what I did for retracing the image. Lots of stroking with pressure simulation enabled. Kept it simple and smooth to give it that serene manga-esque feel. For color choice, I went for something more along the lines of pastel hues to match the character image. Overall, I think it is a rather satisfactory outcome. Nothing flashy nor complicated, just a wallpaper that is calm, quiet and soothing to the visual senses.
