Haha...I laughed really hard when I first saw this scan of Horo and sheep:
http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/scans/Spice-And-Wolf/item185722/
I loved the playful tone of the scan, so I decided to make a wall based on that.
The wallpaper really started as me experimenting with different styles of vectoring, but I have decided to release it just for the kicks...(and to boost the numbers of S&W wallpapers in the gallery)
The scan made me laugh, but the process of vectoring was painful...really painful...I used to vector with the gradual fade+blur method, but this time I have decided to try the layering method (where one layers lightly opaque layers on top of each other to create the illusion of gradual fade)...I think the layering method produces a much more crisp vector, at the cost of many, many more layers...
This has to be the most time consuming vector I have ever done...5 days just for Horo and the sheep, 4 more days for the background and everything else (adjustment layers, balances, etc)...This time, I actually made everything completely from scratch...I was trying to test the scalability of PS vectors, so I actually made this wall at 1440x900 then stretched it to 2560x1600...(you got to love vectors ^^)
Anyways, that's all, this wall is made with widescreen in mind, but if there are enough demands then I might release 4:3 or 5:4 versions of the wall...as of right now...need...reeeest...
===================
Time Spent: 9+ days
Layers: 473
Objects: 4128
Easiest Part: Horo's hair. Only 6 shades, took me 10 minutes to finish.
Hardest Part: Scarf around Horo's waist (god...so many different shades...), the pouch on her neck (...) and the grass (yep...the grass...never realized how hard it is to create grass in PS until now)...
I think I am going to release the vector sometime later...so stay tuned...
