Damn, that took long to do. But I'm proud. OK. Two bucks for everyone who guesses what I tried to mimic (or parody) with this. No? I wouldn't give you money anyways ;d Does THIS ring a bell, anyone? Har. Har. Well, the idea got the life of its own halfway.
The first thing was planning the main characters. I needed a scan (or cap) where Haruko is looking down (like the count in the original) and Naota up, much like Albert. Haruko was an easy find, I had a scan for the previous FLCL wall I made. Naota was worse to find. I fast-forwarded all 6 episodes and couldn't find anything and wanted a crappy forward looking Naota to be there in the end. I even had him half-vectorized. Then, by coincidence, I found a picture of him drinking a 'sour juice'. Because it was meant to be a parody, I was like 'hey, why not?'. That's how he got there.
Textures and everything was worth seeking, 'cause I have quite a collection now. I personally like both characters' hair. Next up. Mabase. I certainly didn't want to vector that, so I extracted it from a DVD screencap and retouched it, not to look to blurry or blocky. Next thing was the FLCL-sky (which I also used last time) + some steam from Medical Mechanica to mimic the clouds from the original. Then, the birds came in. Vectorized, inserted. Then I got this hellish idea ;d I disposed of one bird and put in Canti instead. It was hilarious ;d. Retouched. Made them blend better. That would be the end, but that's when my creativity came in. I did some scrathes and stains to make it look like a painting (it doesn't anyways ;p) Some adjustment layers and that's it. 3 days (of course with breaks) and about 55 layers. Not too much for this kind of work.
Oh yeah. As much as I DO NOT alter my walls after submitting them, this time I'm open to your suggestions. I want it to be perfect. Thanks in advance. Ah yes, and I hope you like it ;d
Ah yes, if you didn't know, Mabase is the name of the town Naota lives in and 'The Count(ess) of Mabase' is an obvious reference to 'The Count of Monte Christo' :D
