Ok long explanation, please read it: I know that Xiaoxingberyl has recently submitted a wall with this same image from Honey and Clover, but I had already put way too much work into this wall to not submit it in spite of this XD I also felt that our two walls were completely different, so it was ok.
Details: I first vectored Yamada, which took me quite a while because I at first wanted to employ a different technique than my normal vectoring style. I got all the way to the end and really disliked it, so I trashed it and re-vectored her all over again XD The clovers were based off of a photo at Stock Xchng, but were done by hand, ie: no stock, and were then layered into the wall to create the illusion of depth. Then, I added the flowers, and began adding details to the clovers to make them more realistic. All in all, the wall took me a good 3 weeks and some-odd days to complete.
Goal: I wanted to convey a private moment, so the light in the wall fades towards the outer edges. Also, I changed Yamada's expression completely from the original image, where she is smiling very largely, and gave her what I *hoped* was a sort of Mona Lisa smile. I wanted you to wonder whether Yamada was smiling or about to cry, and in that way, give the impression of that private moment interrupted by the viewer. The quote is from the movie Notting Hill, which just happened to be playing in the bg when I was beginning this wall. It says: "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love me," and I thought it was exceptionally appropriate for Yamada's plight. If you prefer a textless version, you can get it here: Clicky! I hope the end product is not too busy......
At any rate, I hope you enjoy. Comment and criticism are welcome as usual!
