As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. So here it is... My very first wallpaper about my very first manga ever read...

This wall took me more than a month to get this nice-but-not-perfect look... So yeah I'm pretty proud of me... At first I was going for a simple "scan+abstract background" style but really at the beginning I had some DEVILS ( asa01 and mellykill) neat picking on me!!
Poor of me!

So yeah... They wanted a scenery background and more improvement on the scan and some blood and a tilt for the blade and more texture, and more of that...

And after that came other devils all at the same time :

I really want to thanks them cause for the first wall I ever done.. I couldn't get it better! :)
And I also want to thanks also all the people that comment on this thread.

A special thanks to trismugistus for all his nice comments and encouragement and also his patience :)

But let's speak a bit more about the wall!
- More than 240 layers used during the proces...
- A mont of regular work.
- 4 types of rock texture
- More than 40 layers of different blood splater on the wall to get only 10 nice keeped.
- 150 comments in the Session Zero thread :D
- The original scan was found on google... You can find the original cleaned version here.
- The blade shape is from an other scan found on the net and I vectored it entirely. First time I did some vector work... Really hard even for a really simple shape... (Note if you think it's a strange metal look just check this picture out Damas blade. See I didn't imagine the style ^_^)
- All made on Corel Photo Paint 12.
- Normally the original size was 1200*800 but I saw that on AP this size is not accepted... So I had to redo the entire background to get the size right... I hope you'll like this version and that it will be accepted.

Note : I know the blood isn't quiet as nice as people would want it to but for now I don't have any splatter brushes so I use what I can found... I'll correct it when I found Corel Photo Paint 12 brushes!

Edit the blood to have it more blood looking and less blurry... What do you think?

That's a lot of hard work all right. My computer most probably would have died long ago for such a large file with 240 layers. And you certainly have a lot of people helping you ^^ (150 comments??)

I like it, worth the hard work. Good idea on the shadow and reflection on the blade. Also, the blood splatters don't look so bad actually, but it does look a bit weird, I think. Great that you can work with what you have and make it look so amazing. The blade looks quite real, and this is the first time you do vectoring? Ok, so I'm really dead if I'm going to be doing my own wallpaper. I'm not a very big fan of the anime so I'm not going to download it, but I really like it n__n

Last but not least, congratz for the wallpaper being accepted ^^ I'll be looking forward to your next wallpaper~! Keep up the great work!

I do love to see a Battle Angel wall, and this one is super.
If I had to complain (and I do not) I would have to say that the line up of the eyes is slightly skewed (*takes out his laser level and feels shame*).

For some reason I thought that was Rukia from Bleach for a moment. Anyway, it's a very nice wallpaper. I love the effects, and the reflection against the shadow. That's very nice. It's a great dark-themed wallpaper. nice job. :D ^_^
