Inspiration:
Well the inspiration for this wallpaper came from the cover of the art book.

I wanted to put this image to a wallpaper.

Description:
Well of course the outline had to come first. I didn't draw this outline. I actually used some oldschool extraction methods... ^-^; (Color Select...) Normally a bad way of doing anything but in this case it worked really great. After I finished the outline I changed the texture and the color. I wanted to get close to a gold leaf texture for it. Couldn't quite get that close but I like the look I did got. After the outline I went for the red emblem in behind it. That red emblem was annoying cause I just couldn't get the texture right for the longest time... The paper texture behind the emblem was next. The paper texture was interesting. I found a scan of a poster and cleaned it up so that the image in the poster wasn't visible. Now came the insignia to the top left. I put it there because I felt that the left side was too empty. That insignia I actually had to put together it is 5 different layers. Lastly I went and colored in the flames on the wolf. I thought it needed a little more color.

Other Versions:

Dark with more Gold.

Light more Outline.

I like this cuz it brings about the Eastern culture (or feeling?)
but the scan looks a little bit rough since you used the "oldschool extraction methods" LOL
(just a little bit, it doesnt bug)
the background texture is blurry and i think i gonna faint when look at it..
hm.. i love the {Light more Outline} version the most ^_^

This wall is not finished!
The texture/image you used is too blurry, it really makes things look really bad. And everything does not really mix in well, I think you need to reconsider which textures you are using, and how many. Once you think you got it ask Kalico for help, she is a texture god.

Hmmm.. i like what you did, but the flames kind of block the wolf and blocks it's image. I don't know if that's what you wanted but it's a very nice wall, i think you should bring out the wolf a bit more though =]

Oo...Okami :) I always adored the artwork from that game, and it's awesome to see a wall using the unique art from the game. The work that you put into this wall shows, and the outline and the details that you added is awesome.

A few things though; Outside the red emblem, it gets really hard to see the gold outline on the bg. It's a bit eye-straining to follow the beautiful golden lines on the yellow parchment background unfortunately. A way to get around this is to use a dark bg, like the dark blue one in the original scan, so that the contrast makes it easier on the eyes to appreciate the gold artwork.

In addition, as it was mentioned, the parchment texture you used does seem to be a little blurry at full resolution. Your work here is awesome, and that's why that blurry texture is just painful >_< Nevertheless, I see the amount of work you put into this, and it looks very nice. The detail you put into the outlining, and the red flames you added as detail are very nice.

I'm guessing I should wrap up this VERY long comment heh. +fav for a brilliant job in outlining.

The wallpaper is really good and the colors are nice. However, when I first saw this I didn't catch the wolf. I thought it was just flames. You see when I pass by it. I didn't notice the wolf at all. I was trying to figure out what anime show is this from before I saw the wolf. Try to pop out the wolf alittle more. It was almost like you try to pop out the flames more than the wolf. Try to pop the wolf more so at least it can get attention than the flames alone. All and all, you did a great job ^_^

I think the background texture you used is a little...harsh. It sort of grates on the eyes a bit. XD Still, it's a great concept. It'd also look better if you could make Amaterasu stand out more, but it's still a good wall. :)

Hmmm gat may have a point but besides that i find it original and cool. It could have used a little more contrast between the inner circle and the outer area, plus indeed the bg is a bit blurry and that line on the right aint so pretty. The wolf is cool, altough it might have been placed also inside the circle fully. nice job keep it up ^^

I love the basic extraction of the wolf and how you colored it and the red circle, but I'm not too fond of the background... the choice of the background looks great in the thumb, but in full view it looks kinda blurred and stretched out. I actually like the original art book background's color and texture better.

Great job though.

I agree with gat and Beckor, this wall is decent enough(love the golden colours you used for the vector) but it could be even better. Personally I'd use a lighter and sharper texture for the background seeing as this wall feels very dark right now. Okami is a bright game and I'd like to see that reflected in this wall.
