SHnY is evil.
never has an animated story captivated me this much. of course, FF7-AC was very slick and it turned me into a geek for quite some time, but there is much more substance in SHnY. Slick is so 2005. What we want is what's real. 2007 is all about real. need proof? Thanks to YouTube, Justin Timberlake and Snoop Dogg can now compete with a World War II veteran in terms of popularity and fail miserably. We are just as fascinated with Neo's bullet dodging skills as we are with Mentos and Diet Coke. Your average co-worker/schoolmate/bookworm's blogs are read more often than bestselling novels. Haruhi Suzumiya and its Indie Film pilot episode won my heart right from the magical mikurun-run opening.
However cute and hyped this series may be, it does not lose any of its intellectual value. It reminded me of Morpheus asking Neo to define what is real. "If real is something that you can see, hear, smell, taste or touch, then real is simply electrical signals sent to your brain." At the same time Koizumi asks Kyon, "What if we were born three years ago? What if all our memories were just generated three years ago? What if we were born three seconds ago?" then Kyon wonders if the world he is currently in is a new one or if it was something completely different, or if all this was happening in his head. I can imagine Nagato walking up to Kyon, all bewildered and telling him that he cannot be told what Suzumiya is, very much like how Morpheus tells Neo that he has to experience the Matrix for himself.
Welcome to the Harutrix.
Now what has that got to do with this wall? Absolutely nothing.
Nothing, if you leave out the fact that the depth of this series is what made me fall in love with it in the first place. and that love was what allowed me to work tirelessly until my eyes sank so deep into my cranium that i could actually pose for a jolly roger image.
what first inspired me was the fact that Yuki is so damn perfect for an immaculate style pose on a stained glass window. add that to the fact that i'm a sucker for anything gothic. and i mean the Roman Church gothic, high ceilings, rose windows and all.
i have always wanted to do something like this but unfortunately, i suck at photoshop and i don't know how to do it. i only recently figured out how to manipulate layers and blending modes in photoshop, and this is my first wall with textures.
anyway, credits to Resurgere for the background images.
and a big KUDOS to you if you read through all that.
LOTSA LOVE,
ISTEB
(2009) I spent so many days on this. And yep, the head looks funny.
