It's my first wallpaper that features art work by Ayano Yamane, a mangaka I love the most. The character you see is Prince Val.
The Royalty is also my first wallpaper that was made using a yaoi manga scan and the first wallpaper in the Crimson Spell category.
Besides all the firsts this work was inspired by the Nude Art Petition. I've had enough of half naked females filling the galleries! Abs > boobs!
The process of the making
I got this scan from the Ayano Yamane community at LJ. I knew I had to make a wallpaper out of it from the moment I saw the scan.
Absolutely everything is done with Adobe PhotoShop CS2. I extended the scan and added an extra pillow to fill the empty space.
I vectored the outlines because my attempts at outlining with a tablet look really bad. Val, good thing I'm a fan of yours, otherwise the shirt would have killed me! ♥
The sky is a stock photo of feather clouds which I found on Google. Light feather clouds > big cotton clouds.
The rest I painted with my lovable Trust tablet (Wacom is overrated). I got a bit pissed when painting the pillows because I couldn't get them right. They still look awkward as my painting skills are nowhere to be found. Val's eyes were a somewhat problem because the color is different in all the scans so I chose the combination of blue and green which seems to fit nicely. Yes, his lips should be that red. Why? Ask Yamane-sensei. Besides, I like it this way and I'm the waller so yeah.
There are slight patterns on the wall and on the Victorian couch. Both of them can be found on DevaintArt.
Fangirlism
I love the scan I used to death! It has details, a well toned male and a majestic atmosphere. Val's pose and stare is just so very inviting but not in the "dirty" way, it looks sinful and yet has this slight feeling of pride. He's so beautiful ♥ I would kill for a Havi version of this image! *faints*
A small rant
During the process of making this wall I caught a terrible cold. I didn't really try to get rid of it... so in the end I was stuck in front of my PC with red puffy eyes, frozen hands and a huge headache. I'm so not ok >_< not to mention that my computer is too old to handle big files and that's not a pain killer!
Thanks `halcyonTwilight and `asa01 for helping me out! ♥
I added a widescreen version and 1600x1280. Both of them are cropped so only 1600x1200 is full!
