After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!
Basically this is a basic solid color wallpaper. I focused the red to match fuu's(girl in the middle) dress. I wanted the other 2 to be just black and white and have fuu be in color. thats basically the whole point of this paper.
1.5 hours in photoshop (changing all the colors) and no brushes as you can see.
Nice wall, I like that the attention goes to fuu, well I love Jin but he looks nice on b&w hehe, nice job, I just think it´s needs more work on vector, but it´s ok. good work ^^
Very nice concept, and a good use of scan for it. the characters look very nice, and fuu does take all the attention. however, i find the red bg a bit boring and plain. don't get me wrong: sometimes simplicity does look better. but with a category like samurai champloo, you would find that in most scans there's a very funky abstract type bg (or if there isn't, it gives me that type of impression). so i think it might've been better if you did some brushwork in the bg so tht it would've looked better. and imo, the text could've been smaller and less distracting, or you could've taken it all away.
The concept you decided to work around is good. I like the idea of focusing a particular character with a matching background. Your vectors of the three characters show promise and, for the most part, are done fairly good. There are some rough spots, such as some of the shadows, which seem very blocky and sharp and on Fuu's ponytail.
I have also noticed that there are some artifacting issues (at least with the 1680 x 1050 version which I'm reviewing) in and around the characters, between the background and the characters and also surrounding the letters on the right side of the wallpaper. And from a personal matter of taste, I feel that maybe more texture elements could have been used to give the background more substance.
Good wallpaper overall though and thank you for your work on this piece!
Ah samurai champloo,1 of the more recent series that was very impressive in terms of originality, same with this wallpaper.Even though this piece is plain, its plain for all the right reasons, keep up the great work! :)
