My entry for a contest at MT.
I know, it's very... pink, heh heh.
When KANJU announced the theme of their contest to be friendship, I already had this scan in mind. I'm not sure why, since we don't see Lacus and Cagalli together that often in the series. However I think their similar experiences make them able to relate to each other very well, and I think their friendship is an unspoken bond (hey, that's a good name, I'm gonna use it! It was originally "Sakura Promise").
This vector took me a while...some of the outlines are coloured, which is hard to do when working with shape layers. But it looks better this way. And needless to say, Cagalli's hair took less then a third of the time Lacus's hair took. Her hair is cascading across the Sakura petals (lol, for some reason the term "cascading" came to me when I was vectoring Lacus's hair. It is, isn't it?)
I'm disappointed again with the colours...they look perfect in the PSD file, however after I save the image for web as a jpeg the colours all change and I don't like it. But this is the best I could do. I guess I have to live with it.
The Sakura petals in the background I vectored from a Cardcaptor Sakura scan. I know they have a very soft soft look compared to the vector, but I wanted a softer background, to keep the focus on Lacus and Cagalli. If the background wasn't soft it wouldn't look right.
Well not much else to say right now. I have a ton of other works to get started on. So here's the stats of this wall:
Time:
-Outline: 8 hrs 15 mins
-Colouring: 6 hrs
-Other: 2 hrs
-Total: 16 hrs 15 mins
Layers: 61
Other versions and sizes:
1680x1050 + Texture
1600x1200 + Texture
1024x768 + Texture
Hope you enjoy minna-san! *Yawns* I gotta go take a nap :P Comments, faves, and full views are super appreciated!
[EDIT] I apologize if it's bright, I had the brightness on my monitor at 0 when I made this ^_^' My eyes tend to hurt. I forgot to fix it beforehand. Now I have and the wall does seem a little bright.
[EDIT2] I updated the background and changed all the flower petals. I think it looks much better now! (Note: I didn't fix the alternates yet.)
