Been wanting to make a wall of old Sophie's scan for about two weeks now, but i have been having trouble choosing between two different approaches, i eventually settled with the more realistic look.
The idea here is to view things from the eyes of a writer at work, obviously from his desk. What has been typed on the notebook is a quote i got from an interview with Hayao Miyazaki.
There's quite a bit of shading going on here, and you can see some snacks as well, just think from a writer's perspective and refer to the quote to get why this has been done (results may differ, but this is something i enjoy, kekeke (_/).. ).

This is totally creative. I didn't even have to read your discription to understand what you were going for. Maybe, cause I'm a bit of a writer at heart but I totally love how you made this desk and I totally love the 'snacks'. What writer doesn't have snacks? None. *^^*heh Great job and totally cool idea to put 'Grandma Sophie' as a sketch. Totally, just adore!
