But Clamp's art really is inspiring!

In my history of walling [3 walls total XD] this is the first time I found the BG and only than I came up with the idea for the main characters.
I got married this summer and after renovating my house [in which we’ll finally move in today] I found this wonderful wallpaper of poppies for my kitchen and instantly I got the inspiration to make a wall with these wonderful flowers.

The pictures that inspired me the most were “Poppies in Wheat” by David Bousfield and “Golden Light” by Floriandra on DA. Those fields look exactly how they would look in Moldova, the country I’m from. And I wanted to create the exact atmosphere only with vector art.

A lot of grass brushes were investigated by me and katikut's + Shiranui on DA turned out the most gorgeous so big thanks to them.
I got to vector almost each flower individually, for a couple of flowers I forgot where I got the picture so sorry for that :(
While vectoring the screen cap I used a lot of reference including a scan by aestalitz.

One of the most difficult parts was finding the right expression on Kururugi’s face. In the process I had 2 versions of the look on his face because couldn’t make up my mind what feelings he should have had holding his princess. But after thinking and experimenting for a while I decided that the original feeling of the screen cap [and that is panic] didn’t blend with the overall atmosphere of the background. I wanted him to express grief, despair, anger, hatred, determination for revenge. Hope I managed to do that.
