What happens when you take a nice cd cover scan, some time and different smudge setting?
Exactly. You'll get a wallpaper like this one. I recently discovered this technique, which you can also call photomanipulation, while reading the xxxHolic manga. While reading? Yeah, I saw the awesome cover from Vol. 3 (German) and thought "That one is soo goddamn nice! I need to find a scan like this one.". And so a scan from the OP single was found (Thanks go to Nipponsei for their awesome releases). So... what exactly did I do?
I took a nice brush and smudged the whole CD cover, which took about 1 hour, becouse the dpi were extremly high. After doing so, I've played with the layer options, blur and some gradient maps here and there. I was thinking about making some Cinema 4D renders and putting them in in the end, though that was a bad idea and didn't look so good. Anyway, since the smoke had some loss of glow and brightness, I decided to trace the whole smoke in order to make them a bit more outstanding. This step took about 2 hours. The last step was to give the whole scan a smooth, yet sharp look.
This wallpaper is definatly not my usual style, mainly becouse of the photomanipulation method I used in this one.
Also, I think that this method just another method to render scans pretty easy.
I really like black wallpaper, don't I?
