Hi everyone,
Absolutely love anything Ghibli.
As with many Anime, Ghibli Studio treats it's audience unversally...there are no kids, no grown-ups. just 'an intellegent audience.
My children understand perfectly what is going on, and they are not being treated like jelly brained zombies. A year ago I purchased the box set...half the movies with English dubs, the other with only subs. My sons, then aged 7 and 10 eagerly watched the 'dubbed movies' over a 6 week period, then it came time for the rest.
I have never seen two children learn to 'sub-read' and enjoy foriegn-language movies as fast as my two lads.
Now the boys don't even bother with dubs, on any Anime film, they like to hear the original voices.
The art work..well, it's all been said before, but ...'simply brilliant' sums it up for me.
Sorry about the Avatar...I am working on it, along with everything else, this is a new thing for me. :)
And I am glad to have finally found some like-minded people who believe kids are not dum, and deserve to enjoy quality intelligent cinema.

Love Ghibli films and seen each of them WAY to many times because of my anime club at school. Princess Monoke was thefirst film I saw, then I gradually continued to see the others. I've seen almost all the films and I reallylove Spirited Awayand the original Japanese voices are the best!

I'm Yolanta, 14 yrs old, and I live in sunny CA.
I've watched all majour Ghibli movies and productions, and Grave of Fireflies.
My favorite of all movies would be Mononoke-hime (Princess Mononoke),
and am sorely dissapointed at Hauru no Ugoku Shiro (Howl's Moving Castle).
My childhood favorite would be Tenku no Shiro Rapyuta (Laputa: Castle in the Sky) ~ Though, I did watch the violent Mononoke-hime when I was small. I still enjoy Majo Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbour Totoro), so as you see, I'm a huge Studio Ghibli / Miyazaki Hayao fan.
The next Ghibli production I'm looking foward to is, or course, Gedo Senki, coming out in Japan in July 2006 ~ Directed by Miyazaki Hayao's son, Miyazaki Goro.

I am Tong. I am a Chinese but I live in U.S. I started loving Miyazaky's movies seen I was in fifth grade. I cannot remember the name of the first movie that I saw. But I still remember the story, it was sad. I almost cry. Anyway, I think I will have fun here.
