Wow, there're so many introduction threads..
Anyway, I'm Yuki :) My first Ghibli movie is My Neighbour Totoro - If I'm not wrong. I already watched Howl's Moving Castle and I love it ^^ After my long journey for months or maybe years, I finally watched Spirited Away last week and I'm so in love with it XD XD Too bad, the ending scene isn't satisfy me... But still, I'm so impressed. I want to watch it over and over. I've bought some DVDs - Ghibli movies and I'll watch it soon.
I think Ghibli movies are really inspiring and magical. Miyazaki-sensei, his staffs and crew in the studio are great people. Salute!!
*bows*
Regards,
Yuki

Greetings from an old guy in the UK!
I actually saw Laputa in 1987 although I did not realise what it was or pay much attention to it at the time. I just remember sitting on the livingroom floor watching it on TV and could remember a few images from it but not the name. And it had been bugging me for quite a while that I could not remember the name.
Between then and now I've seen the usual anime, Ghost in the shell, Akira, Patlabor, Battle angel Alita (OK, thats not so usual) but I always remembered these images from this animation I'd seen all those years ago.
About this time last year a satellite channel had a Ghibli season and partly ignored it until I accidentally caught the trailer for Laputa and the memories of watching it all those years ago came flooding back. Cue much film watching and DVD buying!
I'm rather miffed it took me 20 years to finally find out what the film was and that I'd been missing out on some truly amazing work from Ghibli but I'm happy that I've now seen them all.
Now to wait for the UK cinema release of Tales from earthsea.

Hi, i`m ``The New One´´ from north germany.
i chose the challange to see everything created by studio Ghibli. all the movies are on the one hand wonderful tals but on the other hand they criticize society. espacially Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa. a kind of magic is in each of the movies.

Hello! I'm new. ^^ My first anime was, when I was only 6-7 Years old, Tonari no Totoro. :3 I was young, but I noticed the difference between this anime, and American movies. I loved the beautiful art and the movie was so heartwarming and funny - I easily related to Mei at the time. As I got older, I kept watching Totoro often and would fantasize about meeting a totoro in my yard. ^^ Hey, I was young, hehe.
One day when I was in a store with my mother, when I was about 8 years old, I saw Kiki's Delivery Service on the shelf, and instantly noticed the similarity. I was so excited to see another film like totoro that I BEGGED my mom to get it for me.
I had been into anime ever since, but it was rekindled in about 5th grade when my brother started buying a LOT of anime, mostly ADV ones, so I was into a LOT of anime that other people my age and older had never even heard of. XD
I LOVE Ghibli movies. So far, I have seen:
Tonari no Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Laputa, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, Spirited Away, Pom Poko, Grave of the Fireflies, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, The Cat Returns, Whisper of the Heart, and Howl's Moving Castle. I am eager to see even more!
Also - I absolutely LOVE Joe Hisaishi's scores for the Ghibli movies, as well as his non-anime songs. It is like he puts the human soul into music.. so beautiful - I am moved with every listen!
