Okay, so basically this thread is where you post what kind of theme you think would be good for a battle. `clarings and I will review the list and add the themes that are likely to be used in a tag.

PUT SUGGESTED THEMES IN BOLD LIKE THIS SENTENCE.

Oh, and if you want to talk about anything regarding the battles (ex. how hard/easy it is, random ideas you want to throw in to help the competitors, those posts stay here too :3

Interesting idea...lol? kinda random too =P

erm...here's some:

`a new perspective
(recommended to use a scan that's been walled quite often, and present it in a new light. for eg, if the scan was actually from day, maybe it's at night in the wallpaper (?). a different way of viewing the scan is probably the main way to score points. eg. make the scan underwater if the original wasn't

`the moon illuminates
(the wall must suggest or symbolize the moon, but without actually including a moon in the wall. a reflection off something or an image in a character's eyes may not count as the moon in the wall [up to clarings and tsu]. btw...wall must be night scene...for obvious reasons...)

`guardian angel
{the wall must feature a character looking after/over another character. wings do not have to be included, but a supernatural aura is suggested. something to suggest there's something special about the person that's looking after the other person. can be couple, siblings, parents...etc. any relationship is fine between the characters. points taken off if the words guardian angel is used anywhere on the wall. the people looking at the wall must as soon as they look that the character is protecting the other one)

`shadows and regrets
(the wall must feature a character looking sad or melancholic, regretting something in the past maybe. as long as the character looks sad/regretting. =_=. shadows must be blended in the foreground...falling on the character's face OR falling on an object next to the character is fine. points taken off if the shadow isn't obvious or the emotion on the character.)

`time to say goodbye
(a scenic wall, of characters saying farewell. the characters must be obviously saying goodbye, or parting. the scene can be in day or night, up to the waller. no direct use of stock, but stocks can be used as a reference. when 'scenic' is specified, it doesn't mean something easy, like a sky. mountains, grassfields are acceptable, even if it's using brushes. points taken off for direct stock, simple setting and un-obvious parting between the characters. also 2 characters up...how can one character say goodbye to himself/herself?)

now, another idea:

namae wa?...
basically, choose a username of someone on AP who walls. Interpret that waller's name or style in your wall, but you are not allowed to put in the actual name!

Extra points given if people can guess your chosen waller instantly.
Points deducted if you choose some really totally randomly unknown waller from whatever corner of AP, and for using a generic, unguessable style.

(so yeah; it'd be much better to pick someone in.. say, the top 50)

heart

the main focus of the wallpaper should be on a heart. it doesn't matter which way the waller interpretates the word 'heart'. the actual organ is okay, and the shape is okay too. but the heart MUST be the main focus. it must draw ppl's attention immedietly when they look at the wall. Can be abstract or scenic...up to the admins. but no direct stock, especially if you're using the organ heart =_=. and points taken off if a heart frame is used.

a song's message

the wall must convey a certain song's lyrics. minimum use of 10 words from the lyrics, and they must be very visible on the wall. scans allowed, brushes allowed. points taken off for randomly slapped on text, and bad fonts. points also taken off if the images chosen don't relate to the actual song's meaning and message. (eg. if the song chosen was Endless Story, and you put a book to represent story...points taken off).

Woah lots of ideas there... lol i'll contribute some..(these are also themes that I really want to wall but well...)

~ A Pessimistic Perspective

something like "A new perspective" theme...
Basically it means making a dark of pessimistic wall from a optimistic or non-negative themed anime or whatever, like yotsubato or manabi straight...
any style and any technique would be allowed as long as it delivers a dark side interpretation of the series and/or it's characters in that wall.....

* Abstract style *

Obviously by abstract we refer to non-scenic walls, you can try making a minimalistic kind of wall, or any crazy idea you have. Text is allowed.
Extra points for making it as stylish as you can.

I really enjoy the namae wa? theme, though it may be a tad challenging, which is a good thing :D

Though, what if competors purposly suggest the wrong artist to hurt the entries? I think that perhaps only people NOT entering can cast in their votes as to who the artist its based on is.

Also, what happens if the same artist is picked? Perhaps the people entering should call dibs on who they want to do for the comp.


A song's message could also be a lot of fun, and would allow the person to do their own interpretation of a song. Of course, I think it would only be fair to make it a requirement that the song has to be a hit [it has a music video that everone can watch on youtube or something] so that everyone can go watch the video and listen to the lyrics and decide whether or not the wall represents the wall.

Mmm, I don't think it's so bad if people pick the same artist, really. Everyone has a different twist to the style, so their walls wouldn't be clones of each other I hope... lol
