I think the part where Sora sees Riku for the first time is in the Land of Dragons at the Sumit when Sora has to fight him, except Sora didn't know it was Riku at the time. Other times before that Riku only left clues and things for Sora and Sora never really saw him until he fought him in the Land of Dragons.
