We all have our different opinions for the End of Evangelion. I didn't like it cause it left you feeling incomplete. I mean, apart from having giant Rei pieces in the world, what's to become of Shinji and Asuka (who is somewhat strange for she has the bandages like Rei and characteristics of Misato) in this new desolate and barren world? What will they eat? Drink? (provided if the liquid is drinkable since it's composed of humans) etc...
It just left you hanging really, not really good for closure.
Well, it's like what Hideaki Anno says: "I just leave the ending to you...". In other words, you can make up your own ending. That's why there are multiple releases of ending variations out there: Shinji Ikari Raising Project, EVA Re-Take.
Personally, I too can't wait for the release of the movie! It's been too long already, and furthermore, with new storyline and plot development, I want to see how these movie would go. Ah, my dear Asuka...

Apparently they showed a preview trailer of the first movie on July 13 in theaters in Japan (2 days ago)

I found a lot of information here, I think this is an interview with the guy who is making it. Also, I am not 100% sure of that and I didn't really listen to any of it, so if anyoen can and summarize it for me that would be nice.

Um, it's actually the OFFICIAL trailer released by GAINAX studios on the 7th of July 2007. So, there's no mistaken that it is the real deal here. The song's beautiful, imo. Utada Hikaru's gonna sing the opening as well, entitled Beautiful World, and the closing is exactly what you have heard from the trailer itself, which was Fly Me To The Moon -2007 Remix-.
