Haven't been here in a while~ How about a scavenger hunt contest with several items and prizes? Not sure what to do for prizes besides mp3s and scans :3

Might cause more people to compete, but most scavenger hunts here on AP are pretty easy, except of course those of Damoser. So that means he can provide the prizes :D

Well, I meant a series of hunts, such as, identify this scan, then somebody related to the maker of a wallpaper that used that scan, etc., etc. Or just 10 (? pick a number) scavenger hunt quests in the contest. You can probably throw in some AP trivia questions too. Easier means more people will participate. Maybe do some advertising of the contest before you run it and do a quick survey of how many will participate.

Maybe we should get really ambitious and set clues for the next item in the find where the item is found. then the first person to find the final item wins. or give hints at what the next clue could be, but you have to find the first item to even have a chance at the hint.

i think instead of giving out prizes we should give out decent sized amounts of paper people points, since those are redeemable for prizes anyways. i'll try to get in contact with pink of you guys think it would work, and figure out how to set up the paper people store so that we can actually use it.

Or do you guys think a Wallpaper Battleground should do the job??..There would be one theme.2 people who will agree to do it will challenge each other with it and complete it within a specific time and the winner will win a specific prize like...which i havnt though of

I like Damoser's ambitiousness. But it'd need a lot of planning, etc. Hmm, hmm, let me think:
What makes a scavenger hunt fun? Finding out new stuff right? Seeing our main theme is anime, perhaps we can expect the contenders to be willing to check new anime series. The briefing (hints) can be huge, like:
"In episode 6 of Lucky Star, an anime series gets spoofed when Konata and the others drive to the beach.
That other series has it's own group on AP. One of the admins in that group shares the name of a spaceship from yet another anime series.
The female lead of that series is portrayed in a wallpaper of the #1 'lover' of that series here on AP.
Find that wallpaper"

In this example, you will need to watch Lucky Star ep 6, understand that it's Initial D that's spoofed, find the Initial D group on AP, see that the admin is called Swordfish-II, which is of course from Cowboy Bebop, then go to the anime list, see who loves and hates CB, the number one under 'love' is ^Nat, go to her wallpapers and see there's a wallpaper of Faye.

That can be pretty hard and as said, it takes a lot of planning to make such hunt. But it could be fun :)

Agreed.WOW GA nice idea but what if the member doesnt have the anime...Like supposing someone posts an anime and none of us have it..I'd suggest that you all put all the anime you got so that we can post questions regarding it

As I said, part of the whole concept of AP -imo- is getting interested in new series. At least I am. When I see a cool scan or cool wallpaper, I wanna know more about the series it's from! So I go to youtube and check some samples. So maybe we can base our hints on what can be easily found on youtube, instead of letting people download/buy complete episodes.

Youtube is not narrowband friendly, which is what gp was getting at, i think.

here's what i say, we'll keep the smaller hunts going, and start a wallpaper war thread. encouraging people to wall is not a bad thing.

then we find out who will actually participate in the larger hunts and have them all say so in a thread for that, along with whether they have broadband or narrowband. if all have broadband we can proceed with the above suggested approach. if not, we can have the narrowband members list what is available to them, and update the list as it changes. this can be done via pm to a predetermined group admin who can amend a list we will keep in the first entry of the thread for the bigger scavenger hunts.

points for the three games should be as follows:

regular scavenger hunt: 1 to 5 points depending on difficulty, 5 being extremely difficult and not found for at least 2 weeks. all hunts not found should remain in the game, but new ones should be entered a minimum of once a wk. this will reward members who continually participate, because they will be able to keep track of hunts not found, should they stumble upon them or have an epiphany.

larger scavenger hunt: 5 to ten points, rules follow as regular scavenger hunt with the exception that higher points are given after 3 weeks, and new hunts given every 2 weeks at least.

wallpaper war: we can have it set as elimination rounds. first rounds can include already existing walls, any age, any subject. second round, any age, specific subject. finals have to be new.

primary rounds: 1 point to every one entered. i know it sounds too easy, but it rewards walling. no one can enter the same wall twice though.

secondary rounds: 5 points to any qualifying entry. point from previous round included, they are not cumulative.

final rounds: 10 points third place. 15 points second place. 20 points first place.

all points are obviously up for discussion.

Sweet hints dam :) i'll talk to pink to get you promoted that is after you make one of those things you mentioned and they are popular xD.Though i disagree with your Large Scavenger Hunt one because giving hints at a time pause of 2 weeks or 1 week is like making this group as dead as it can get LOL.The thing we want is continuous flow of members in and out of our group who are participating!.We want quick results so that new hint can be given and quickly a new hunt can be started!.Some people after looking here and there will usually give up the hunt and well wont ever bother to come to paper people after 1-2 weeks time period just to check if there is a hint or so LOL so you know in the end lazyness prevails...But your other ideas are great =)
