Get ready, Get set ...Shinkai Brilliances' First Wallpaper Contest!
Lately, the group has been quite inactive and that is because as a fan site there is not much to do I thought to myself. So I thought, with a group full of junkies who all love the same style of anime why not get a group of competitive individuals to create a wallpaper based from Makato Shinkai!
RULES :
~Entries must be turned in by between May 1st - May 31st.
~ Entries must consist work created with a "Shinkai feel" (Clouds, Trains, Painty, Lovers, feilds ETC.)
Examples: Re-painted
Scans + re-draw + textures
~ Re-cg's, re-painting, re-draws mixed with scans are fine! Scans are allowed, but just dont get 2 scans from shinkai and say "DONE!"
Shinkai Wallpapers You can make the wallpaper in anyway you see fit, Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Painter, or PAINT XD. As long as it is a wallpaper made from the style of his works.(Meaning Vectors are allowed)
BE CREATIVE! Don't just steal a scene from Shinkai unless re-painted or re-cg'd!
~Voting will take place June 1st-3rd
~ Voters will be members of Shinkai Brilliance.
~ Please PM Me if you are planning on entering.

Ok I'm back from my vacation to Greece so I couldn't reply sooner.
Good idea to make the group a bit more active, cause it was getting a little dusty here
But ok I've never completed a wallpaper, but this time I try to make one and finish it too. I was never to motivated to make one, but if we're gonna make it a competition and it's a Shinkai theme... I just can't refuse!
And since my holliday started today I think I will be able to find some time for it ;)

Well it's fine bye me and I think Slaka wouldn't disagree either. But make sure Maria is also a member of this group and follow the rest of the rules too.

And like slaka already said: two is better than one.
But we do expect a wallpaper that is double is good =P
Does anyone has some tips/links/tutorials to help a unexperienced man to make a wallpaper? Cause I'm seriously lacking some inspiration...

Okay good. Now ive had a question brought up and I feel I should adress it. Would you feel more comfortable just making a Shinkai wall opposed to making a Shinkai "feel" wall. Example: Shinkai Themed null Shinkai Feel

Nono, I am basically asking if we should make the walls based after the Painty harmonic feel of shinkai or just the theme of his movies.
pic 1 being the theme of TPEOD and pic 2 being a more painty, makaoto shinkai feel(of course not using mostly scans) sry for the confusion.

i can only make anime icons but i have naver made a wallpaper...but ill think about it, and when i do ill ask more questions. im sorry

Don't worry, I can't even make anime icons...
Just experiment a bit with Photoshop (or even Paint if you want to =P ) and let your Shinkai feeling flow!

Well I thought that we were supposed to use the themes of his movies... but I think we should go for both.
Because it's already hard enough for some to even make a wallpaper (*kuch*me*kuch*) and if you can use scans from his movies etc, it would make it more accessible for non experienced wallers.
But if you ARE able to make an original Shinkai feel wallpaper, I would say: Be my guest and surprise me!

Yeah, because I was thinking about it and the original guidlines I set were a little difficult. So then the guides are:
