So... yeah apparently there's just not many things people like about vash?

That's not true, most of us only said they like a different character better. Vash got enough good points, as he's extremely funny, a fantastic shot and just a very nice guy. He's the perfect main personage in the series.

I just personally don't like that perfectness ^^, the character becomes to 'plain' because of the one-issue policy of the main character (no killing, only do good things). Semi-good guys like Wolfwood are much interesting, imo. Though, Vash isn't that clean after all ofcourse, as he did demolish Juli city. Credits for Trigun on that point.

Wasn't July City's destruction knives doing, though he used Vash's arm to do it he was the one who triggered it I seem to recall, the whole thing about finding Rem's descendant...maybe I misunderstood, but that's how I saw it.

That's true, though during the series it is always assumed Vash did it. Only in the end it's proven that Vash is ultimately good. I DON'T LIKE PURE GOOD PEOPLE ^^.

well one might argue that he's a plant and not a "person" in that he's not human, but I agree, there's a lack of reality to such a character.
