Have you guys ever heard of RFID? People apparently want to use it for everything in the future. In my opinion its an awful idea that could be very dangerous, and in a way, sort of scary. The main reason, that is of now, that I am against RFID is because the tags give you absolutely no privacy whatsoever. Basically its the government trying to control everything you do, and to do that they put these small chips inside your body so that they can keep track of you wherever you go. Here's some good information on RFID that you might like. :)

This device cannot control what you do. Its not even capable of transmitting anything that could, at the slightest chance, deliver subliminal messages to your brain in order to control it. As for privacy, well it has no audio or video inputs either. Heres a scenario: So you go to the bathroom and take a dump. The feds are on your tail but you just got the runs. All they would ever know is that you are in fact in the bathroom and whatever it is that you're doing in it is your business. But at least they'll catch your ass when you step out or know if you're on to them and try escaping through the window.
The purpose of the device is to put into digital information the location of all citizens of a nation (US) and try to weed out the unwanted like aliens or terrorists. But of course the device can easily be reproduced/cloned/altered so I think the whole thing is a bunch of money-making bull.

What we need are cyberbrains. Or at least an external HD hub connected to our currently existing protein-based ones. If you utilize the brains unique frequency, you get a better and tamper proof version of the RFID.

That's implants you're talking about. Sure, it'd be cool to be able to use ultra super great memory, but it'll have its down sides. My favorite scenario would be:

*C - computer
*H - human

So you walk into a cafe bar, and go to the nearest computer

C: "Please connect yourself to the USB hub."
You take out the little USB wire out of your ass, and insert it into the computer.
C: "If you can see this message in your head, that means that everything is in order. Please think enter, or computer will autoshutdown in 50 seconds."
H: "Enter."
C: "Yes, user name Renegatecow, how may we be of service today?"
H: "The usual."
C: "Please think dosage."
H: "2.0."
C: "Installing. Congratulations, you have upgraded from man to woman. You have exactly 25 hours until volume wares off. Do consid*** ERROR ERRORRRR**, virus detected! ViRuS AleRT!"

Scene = CyberHospital
Doctor: "Hmm, name: Renegadecow. Age: 25. Reason of death: virus, codename Kaizor88.
Decription of Kaizor88: The newest and deadliest viruses of all. Completely erases memory followed by the destruction of the hardbrane. . . Sight, they die so young these days... Where did we go wrong? Yes, it dates back to 2010 when the government of US though that it would be a good idea to have humans as computer. . . . Then there's Microsoft to blame. The answer is Linux, damn it."

Nah, I think spam would be the cyberbrains worst enemy. Imagine yourself driving on the road then all of a sudden some car insurance advertisement pops up blocking your view insisting that you've won something from doing absolutely nothing. You drive off a cliff and regret right before you die that you don't have car insurance.

As stated RFID has already been implimented and chances are you've handled items with the technology applied. Besides you can already be tracked without much difficulty and any purchases profiled due to current cashless technology that most use.

That also said Bluetooth is a bigger threat to personal security at present.

Actually, i dunno if it followed through, but china was supposed to have implemented id cards that also work as wireless funds transfer cards. meaning you check out at a grocery store, and wave your card across a reader to pay for your items. each card would have the persons own identification, and would be trackable if need be. you can have trackers inserted into children, or adults if you want. the reason being in case something should happen to them you could find them.

the truth behind the matter is, if the government wants to know something about you, they can, no problem. have been able to for years. but devices that can control people are not in existence. scientist can barely understand how the human brain works, let alone control it. so the same goes for making devices to transfer data into the brain. all of that is just talk, and wishful thinking. it is not in the foreseeable future.

I disagree. Theres hypnotic suggestion, subliminal messages through TV (your iphone too perhaps) and DAVID BLAINE, devil incarnate, seducer of wandering minds. Imagine what the government could achieve if they made David Blaine hypnotize you through your mobile phone. "Vote Republican. Vote McCain"

Ok, let me specify. implanted devices to control people don't exist. devices that have a direst effect on the brain waves, and that can manipulate the mental images via electrical impulses don't exist. suggestion is a whole different thing, and can usually be countered by a strong mind.

I agree with dam on this one. The human brain is incredibly complex, that scientists and medical researchers only know a small fraction of its capabilities. Such a device that can control human minds MIGHT be available in the distant future, when humanity has finally unlocked the brain's secrets, but for now, it cannot exist, based on what we currently know about the amazing, organic, *almost* perfect computer that is our brain (Which is instinctually biased).

I agree with Dom and Louda on this issue. While it is true that technology is a powerful tool of mankind, it is foolish to say that as of now it can be used to manipulate human conscience. Also, do to the fact that we really don't need mind control devices to manipulate people. People are pretty brainless and can be herded like cows, if you push the right buttons.

To counterpart you three last posters, the one thing that can physically manipulate the human brain is electricity. The brain consists of low volumes of static electricity, and by junctioning the right type, volume and spot, the human brain can be tricked. Although, even this method is yet to be fully understood and usable. Though it will be possible in the near future.

I beg to differ. I don't see surgeons manipulating brain tissue with electricity when removing a tumor. I also don't see psychiatrists prescribing electricity to alter brain chemistry.
