This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Here are the results from the 1st AC Wallpaper Contest: "Still Water". I thank you all for your participation and hard work. I know its not easy to put all that text into a wall. I know. I'm definatly not good with text but I'm working on it. Anyways, it was a tight race in the end.

Here are your scores

1) Hakusa “Still Water”; 91

2) Pyrotechnic "Water Refelections"; 98

3) Hagane28 "Look up"; 82

4) Whisprn2dawind "Not Alone"; 81

5) Late Entry; 99 [Winner]

Judge Yuki-chan had more to say about these wall's with her comments and advice.

1) Still Waters

One boat in the middle of the ocean with someone sitting on it. I personally prefer to interpret that person to be the shepherd instead of the lost lamb. Simple, classic, and nice. Unfortunately, the wall isn’t really interesting for me, but it still describes the text nicely though :]

Classic and readable. Not really interesting, but suit the wall nicely. Playing with gradient a bit would probably make it looks nicer. For example: Make the words at the top darker and slightly become lighter but still visible enough to be read at the bottom

2) Water Reflections

Green pastures: Check. Quiet waters: Check. I interpret those birds as papers with God’s words in it, really nice :] Two confuse humans.. a boy and a girl as a representative of God’s creation, the lost lamb which He leads and guides. The boy is standing in the water, I interpret this one as ‘restores my soul’. Unfortunately, I don’t find something that can be described as the path to righteousness, but a wall doesn’t have to describe every single word in it. I have no idea if this is what the waller think or not, but this wall is really nice and thoughtful in my opinion ^^

I actually like the type of font that the waller use, but I’m also a type of person who think that don’t care how good-looking a text is, if you can’t read it, it’s useless. It would be so much better to put the text somewhere else or if the waller still want to put it there, change the color, darken it a bit. It’ll looks nicer ^^

3) Look Up

The light from the sky is being interpreted as the God, the shepherd who leads and guides the human. I actually like this wall, but from what I see, unfortunately, this wall describes more about the added-text outside the quote more than the primary text itself.

How the waller put the text is nice and interesting, especially with those soft text-repetition as the background. How the last words being written differently in red ink is also interesting. Good job :D

I have some advices:
In my personal opinion, it would be more interesting to see the red ink in some other words to give some stressing. Some capital words would also be really nice. For example:
“The LORD is my SHEPHERD, I shall not want. HE makes me lie down in green PASTURES…. etc..
I also found it interesting if the words are being put in the sky instead of the man’s cloth. What I mean is to make the words look like they fall from the sky (God). It’s just an advice though… :]

4) Not Alone

Describing about “guiding” and “leading” in my opinion. I prefer to interpret the guy as the lost lamb and those lights (fireflies) as the guidance from God. I don’t know why.. it’s a simple wall, but I like it. I feel that somehow this wall describe a lot more than what I could tell.

The type of the font that the waller choose look a bit messy. How the waller put the text is actually kinda interest me. Unfortunately, you can’t read some of the text because the background contains lots of white color. It would be nice to change some of the text color or put it somewhere else, on a place where the text would be clear enough to be read.

My advice: Try to put the text only at the top and bottom part of the wall (black area). Play with the size a bit. For example:
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures…. etc..

5) Word

The girl is a vector of Ayanami Rei from Eva if I’m not wrong. This is actually a nice and simple wall. Somehow, I describe the girl as a farm girl that has a connection with the word “shepherd”. Besides, she uses a cross necklace which describe her belief in Christ. That’s the only thought that I can catch from this wall. I personally like it but I don’t think it’s good enough in describing the text.

Really nice. The font that’s being used fit the wall nicely. It’s simple and clean. If the waller could make the sub-text looks slightly thicker (to make it more readable), it would be perfect ^^

There you have it. You can comment to Yuki here or just in general. I want to say again that I am thrually impressed with everyone's entry and I can't wait to see what you come up with for the next.
