Upcoming titles/purchases :D
Just like it sounds! I think aside from talking about the stuff we have and would recommend in other threads, it'd be good to have a place to list upcoming releases and books we're thinking about getting.
And magazines releases, especially the kind that aren't regular monthlies, because sometimes it's just hard to keep up with everything on your own :3

Okay so.. random question, how do you even know to preorder books? Usually I only find out about a book after it's released, so then I try to snatch it up as quickly as I can. :\
Oh and another random question for people, has anyone thought about buying the Romeo and Juliet guide book? ( http://www.akadot.com/product_info.php?products_id=24602&cPath=27_2 ) When I first saw it awhile back I figured with how popular the series was someone was sure to snap it up and submit the whole book. But no one has done that yet... so now I'm thinking it might be a rip off with basically all the scans of the DVD covers? I want pretty pony scans! D:!

Well, judging from the pics I've seen on Hobby Link Japan it seems that there are just the scans we already know and have mostly in the gallery.

I don't think that Romeo x Juliet book would have the DVD cover images in it, just the magazine spread re-prints most likely. Those kind of anime guide books seldom have DVD covers. DVD cover art is almost always in the compilation books that are all pictures or the artist's art book. Then again, that's just observation from buying a bunch.
The tip-off for new and upcoming stuff is usually in the magazines for the month - Newtype, Animage, Animedia. They have section on upcoming books as well as ads with release dates. Also, check sites like mangaoh.co.jp as they update faster and feature pre-orders before places like akadot. Also, the publishing/product sites like Kodansha (Newtype), Tokuma (Animage), and Animate let you know what's coming up.

Oh, and here's an upcoming releases I'm looking forward to:
Jigoku Shoujo Illustrations - If you bought any of the previous books (like me) you were probably disappointed by the extreme lack of illustrations. But this one is *just* illustrations. Like the Higurashi one that came out earlier this year. There will be DVD cover art, stuff from magazines and other product releases as well as new art work. Comes out 10/08/2008, but like all art books, it's subject to change :D

This isn't really a upcomming title anymore and I'm not really interested in it, but I'm wondering if anyone else thinks the Saiyuki Salty-Dog books are a bit much. I mean Salty-Dog 5 just came out. 5! Are there seriously that big of fans of the show willing to buy 5 $30+ artbooks? I mean the guys are very cool looking, and I've always liked the artwork style, but what person needs that many artbooks of a single series?
Although I guess the same could be said of Code Geass. It's almost comical how they find new Engrish ways of saying new titles for the books for that series.

Lol. I have like 5 fullmetal alchemist artbooks (all the manga and anime ones :x). The spiral artbooks are about $45 a piece at akadot, and there aren't that many pages in each. I guess it's just how much you like the series. I don't have any of the salty dog ones. The art is not my type.
Lol. XD I myself have at 5 HaruToki series books, but they are in different styles (anime and video game look) and some feature characters from the 1st and 2nd game. And your Fullmetal Alchemist ones are at least different styles - anime & manga so they weren't even released by the same companies probably.
I guess what I was getting at was the Salty Dog books are now on number 5, and all of them are manga art, and the style really hasn't change all that much from the first one. Besides the Salty Dog books there are still one or two additional manga style image artbooks for Saiyuki. So I was kind of like "how many manga style Saiyuki books does one person need?" It's just excessive.
I guess they will keep releasing them as long as they can make money off of them.

Lol, why not sell them if they make money? Sounds like good business to me XD Wonder how many pages those artbooks have... I was tempted to buy one last time just to check it out, but the temptation was really low :p I was really looking forward to the nabari no ou artbook, and now that I have it, I wish they had waited so more stuff can be collected.
If there's another bleach artbook, I'll buy it Xp
When is the next newtype romance coming out? I missed the one in august.

Lolz, the preview image in the upcoming Girl's Style has set off my fangirl senses. XD http://www.animate.co.jp/newrelease/newitem/book/book0809_2/book0809_2.html
I'm trying to decide if I should just start buying that magazine. But I don't really care that much about game that I can't even play... (no Japanese knowledge (
) ).

I've never bought a Girl's Style or B's Log, but that's mainly because I can't recognize any of the series they're feature. And it's mostly games. But if it's heavy on the art, then it's one I might look into ^^
And the next Newtype Romance comes out 10/20/2008. Haven't seen it anywhere online yet, but that's the date printed in the August issue.

Yeah I've never bought a Girl's Style myself. I'm thinking it's going to be filled with tips on how to play the games (blah), and it's mostly dating sim games from the list of series featured I've seen on other sites. I really wish someone would come up with a technology to translate all the Japanese text in games. Cause yeah I could play any Japanese game I want on the DS but I won't understand it at all. XD
There have been 2 Prince Animage's now right? Anyone know when the next one is coming out? I always have problems finding it (or even knowing it's out) until it's sold out everywhere.

I rely on nat to tell me when the next one is coming out
I stumbled across the first one by accident when I was buying other magazines XD

Wow, I'm so glad that's happening! I was thinking the best they were going to get was small print-outs in the Newtype and Animage issues. This strikes me as not a lot of art work for a book, but I'd still get it since I already know its high quality art work :)
