2009 Visual Purchase Thread 01
Good news from me! I also got the kamina x simon portraits today! My TTGL artbook is also coming on Monday, but I won't be home, so hopefully I'll see it Tuesday.
Okay to make things easier I'll just show it. The book is Barocco . And it comes with a (thin) postcard book with a postcard of every game featured in the book. Most of the pages are 1/2 page art or full page characters with info. The dividers between the games are full page art. The bottom image above I compared Barocco with the B's Log guidebook for the same series (and same guy) I already owned. The guidebook obviously has a few more pages of that guy but as you can see Barocco is about the same size.
There are 6 different video games featured in the book (plus some 2 page "preview" games) although some series have a lot more pages then others.

Is that Pandora Hearts book just an anime guide? I looks like the tiny dissappointing (all text) books they sometimes crank out. -_-

Simon x Kamina doesn't have too many images, 16 illustrations to be exact. But they're all new ones :)
My Amazon stuff is just sitting collecting dust at the moment :D It's Golden Week in Japan and even Amazon and DHL take the week off! I should have a SAL mail shipment coming in soon though, with doujin stuff though.

The pandora hearts one is a manga guide book. It has a 8 page color gallery at the front XD I've gotten some like that before. I'm just obsessed with pandora hearts, so I got it. Wish I could actually read Japanese though.

Nope. Nothing has moved since the ship date... Maybe it's just DHL taking a holiday, but then again, the Haruhi book has been "shipping soon" since Thursday :D

Damn ... I got Tony's new artbook and I drooled on it ... good thing I hadn't taken it out of the plastic wrapper yet :) Add Asobini Ikuyo! Illustrations Houden Eizou Art Works artbook and E*2 Girls! Girls! Girls! 3 artbook into the mix and I'm happy.
Oh nat, what book are all those pretty Bara no Maria scans coming from? I hadn't even heard of that manga until I saw your pretty scans and did a little lookup. I love the coloring on them! :D

They're from BUNBUN Illustrations, as mentioned here. Really nice stuff, especially in coloring. My copy didn't survive being scanned though >_<
:( Didn't survive scanning as in the binding fell apart? T_T I really loved the scans you added for it, I'm going to have to add that book to my "want to get in the future" list. :D
Has anyone bought the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Cho Gekkan books that are coming out recently? I can see Saa-chan got the Haruhi one, but what about the Nagato or the boy's book?? They sound nice from the description, but not as nice as the Haruhi one. I'm afraid to buy them and they get burned because they are mostly character sketches and design sketches and interviews rather then completed artwork. >.<

Hmm... The one Saa-chan bought is different from the ones you're talking about; that one was an Ito Noizi collection of Haruhi art, where as the little books are all anime art work. I'll show you what's in one.
The books are quite thin, and each features one new illustration and one tribute guest artist illustration. There's a bit on the voice actress/actor for the character, and a gallery with pictures featuring whatever character is on the cover. All the gallery pics are most likely ones you've seen (or at least I have). Suemura has scanned the new anime style image and tribute illustration from each of the books, so the new content the books provide is already on AP.

Thanks for the info nat! You basically confirmed exactly what I was afraid of. :( I wouldn't really mind the lack of new images, as long as the images they included were actually usable. But it looks like they crammed 4 images on a page fairly often, so I don't think I'll be buying them. :<

There are 3 in there that were bad buys. The worst one is the Yura one (top left corner) since it's just a game guide with less than 10 pages of full page illustrations. The hardcover girls one (top right corner) is full of explicit nakedness >_<. The fun book one has over half manga... but I should've expected that.
