Just kind'a gives us an idea of what you folks are running on.

Well my sound card sucks, sorry, it's a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio 5.1 (On a dell) I use for front speakers small speakers (6W I think) for rear speakers 20W with amplification and the front speaker is held by my screen speaker, and unfortunately I don’t have any Bass Boost speaker. The thing is that all the 5.1 technologies on my computer isn't fully used because all videos or audios are stereo so the are just duplicated to the rear and I don't really know if I 5.1 sound are correctly installed (using the windows volume control shows me all the speakers I have and with the sliders a have checked the speakers position and it's ok) so if anyone have a file with a clear testing sound (a sound that turn around or a sound that test speakers one by one, well then manifest yourself please.
SoundMax used to be the best Integrated sound you could get at one point. My soundcard only cost like 19 bucks, and has excellent 2-Channel Codecs for Analog, but 5.1 sucks, unless using the Digital Pass-thru. The BeyerDynamic headphones, when I bought them like 2 years ago, cost like 140 bucks.
I think i'm gonna upgrade to those Japanese AudioPhile ATH-900 headphones - basically the same price.
German vs. Japanese Quality.

Wow, I posted that one week ago.
I did finally upgrade my phones to a beyerDynamic DT770-80. I did test the A900, but the pleather ear pads made my ears a bit sweaty.

Hmm... So we got high-end headphones going eh? Audio-Technica headphones are nice (not just sound, They look cool :P) I got AKG Acoustic and Sennheiser headphones. ^_^
Anyways, My setup on my computer is an Audigy 2 ZS platinum pro which has the external input/output hub.
Front speakers output on the sound card I connected to my Onkyo reciever (100W per channel) which is powering my Yamaha speakers. (Tower floor speakers)
Then I have a long cable connecting to my rear speakers from the sound card which are some old 2-way powered speakers that came with a computer I brought in 1995. I mean at least they work for when I'm gaming but they sound like crap and distort if I turn up the volume. So Its a 4 speaker surround sound. Work awesome for first person shooter games.

Yeap, high-end phones.
I heard the AGKs were excellent headphones for the money /w a 5/5 value rating on many sites. I did "sort'a" up the ante by sticking in a custom cMoy amp using a OPA2227 chip, and it's enough to make all the dim bg sounds on the soundstage become more audible.
I personally own: beyerDynamics 250-80, Audio-Technica ATH-A900, and the 770-80/Pro. They are all fine headphones, but the best overall I would say is the DT770-80. ATH-A900 come in at a real close second for sound, comfort, etc. But the 770s have a better bass and don't make my ears sweat.
However, the new DT880s kick ass... you just need a halfway decent amp to run them. For a audiophile the A900 and 770-80 seems to be the best budget headphones I think.
