Suggestions? Whines? help?
Kalicoout of curiosity, i just spoke to gid about it thinking maybe i heard her wrong...and she confirmed what i thought about the final scores.
It's good of you to clarify with her, because I don't think there was a clearly defined means of ranking or some sort of victory condition specified from the onset. Land or exp owned are 'obvious' quantities to rank by, but I absolutely agree that they are far from optimal means of determining success. (I'm guessing the list on the front page is ordered by exp owned.)
I have to say I like the idea of ranking by "How successful you are in conquering territory from others" - note, not counting purchases of unclaimed land. But so as not to put the defending armies at a disadvantage, I would propose that we also have some measure of "success at defending your territory against attack" as well. Perhaps a rating in terms of exp (or equivalent exp worth of land) succesfully won/conquered or defended against. This means that the size of your country doesn't matter, but it does enable you to leverage weapons (which Gid had so meticulously planned!) to help you.
Dioma>.> this is an anime wallpaper "war", where did the "happy to take part in this" spirit go?
Hear, hear.
Kalicocan i ask why the first link to the rules (that gid makes in an update) links to this?:

I don't remember exactly when that was, at some point in time, somebody (out of a very small pool of suspects!) decided to play a prank and change the link for "the rules" to point to that image, and Gid didn't notice it for a while. When she realised the prank, she restored the link to correctly point to the rules thread, but posted that little note there to acknowledge the prank. Note it says The "Rules" in quotation marks.

there's always been some tension but overall i think everythings alright. i've noticed that all groups tend to fizzle out eventually...life and short attention spans always get in the way ;)
As for me, I'm fine with everything as long as I can do something I don't normally do. But those power rangers made me wish to strangle someone >.> people in tight suits are so icky... I mean, it's tight everywhere /me gags
chibicrystalbut amount of land makes more sense than exp i guess. i'll change the standings' list sometime today kalico. it's not that much work ;p (sorry ramen)
You misunderstand. Amount of land is no good either, land owned and exp owned are not fair measures of performance in the battleground. What's needed is a measure of how successful each team was in their battles:
- How successful are you in conquering territory from others
- How successful are you at defending your territory when attacked
Which can be based off the wager/spoils. This would be properly independent of the land/exp economy aspect and focus on the wallpaper battles.
Edit: I found it! Earlier reference to determining ranking of armies:
here<-clickit's the amount of land you obtain through battle, not buy.

Agreed ^^
And Yes, Kalico, I realize we lost big time. It's really not a big deal, since we had a lot of fun with the first battle at least, and there's still more we can do. But I could really do without the 'Ramen bites the dust' comments.
Personally, the 'ranking' really doesn't matter much at this point. The Battleground isn't going to end anytime in the near future, and a lot can change in the 'standings' until then.

Kalicoermmm...it's not how much land you have...but how much you win, beckor >_>
that doesn't make us the underdog at all. and i'm pretty sure we'll be proving that soon :3
and i believe that It was actually in the rules. we're out of this so it doesnt matter for us. but just for your reference since the rules is gone.
PS> the quote is referencing the first time when armies bought land, but, we weren't in time for that and we didn't really buy much land at all. and so Beckor said we're in bad shape. and then i guess, according to the rules written (which is not there anymore) that it wouldn't matter because.. again refer to the History.
oh. but i found something interesting on joining. unless you fix that
;)BattleGroundRulesRecruiting: Once the war starts, the group will be open to Join on Approval. However, in order to join, the person must already a member of an army (i.e. the person contacted the army leader and worked everything out), and listed in the Recruits thread. Anyone else who joins and is not part of an army will not be accepted.
I like hamsters analogy either way with the winning/loosing thing

once i have the warlog done we will be able to rank according to that. lol, the threads are such a jumble >_<'
