I've done a couple of research papers on this topic, so I decided to kick this group off with it. So, feel free to express your views on this topic, and if you want quote research to back yourself up :P
*thinking*
*take a deep breath*
Well, in my country, all students from private and public schools wear uniforms. There're national uniforms which used by all students from every area in Indonesia - my country.
National uniforms for :
Elementary school : above : white, below : red
Junior high school : above : white, below : blue
Senior high school : above : white, below : gray - but looks like blue a bit.
Besides those uniforms, usually every school has their own uniforms to differ themselves from other schools.
Few years ago, some schools picked one day when the students can wear anything - not uniform - as long as the clothes not too open and still polite ( we can't use tank top for example ), but some parents are complaining about it. Their children started to push them to buy new clothes every week because the students don't want to be seen using a same cloth!! They want to use a different cloth every week.
After that, the schools decided to change the policy. Everday, the students must use uniforms. There's no one special day. That kind of thing only happened for several weeks in my school. If I'm not wrong, it only last for one year in other schools.
There's nothing wrong with wearing uniform. Some people said that it makes us feel more united with our friends. We have something to memorize. Maybe one day, we'll miss those time when we use the uniform :
"Hey, do you still remember how it feels when we're using that uniform?"
"Yeah, we're in senior high school that time. We're having so many wonderful times together."
"I really miss that uniforms. I would love to wear it once again."
The chat above is an example about what my friends usually said about their high school times..
Well, I hope I'm not giving a wrong comment. I honestly don't really know what to talk about, the topic isn't too specific for me.
Regards, Yuki
