Design ideas
@ Cibo
Familiarity with Solaris perhaps? I mean, waking up from a vision, being in space and being influenced by a strange phenomenon.
But we should try to avoid similarities.
@ monchi
Using interesting and different angles like you did is very important but I feel like the transition from image 3 to 4 is not harmonic (first she is upside down and then normal). Perhaps the face of Selphina in image 3 should be at the same place as in 4 to make her first lie in her dream and then in reality and to have a smooth transition. I don't know if you understand what I mean (expressing those things is difficult in a foreign language xD), so I made a sketch.
my suggestion: http://www.animachi.de/temp/cibo/monchi_alternative.jpg (I kept monchi's numbers to make clear what image is where)
Having the images in that order also creates some sort of tension (the viewer asks: where did she wake up? what does she see outside the window?).
Actually we could even jump from 2 to 6 (I like choppy editing xD) because waking up in a shocking place isn't that chilled like on weekends at home.

Okay, here are some images/ideas of how Selphina and her clothes could look like:

As for the designs, I think they look very interesting, but the clothing makes me think more of adventure anime than of serious science-fiction drama. But if Cibo is okay with it, we could take the design as it is.
I will try to get used to your style as good as possible. I will analyze your sense of proportions and anatomy thoroughly xD

HMM I like the character design ALOT actually, I think that the name fits the character very well and the character fits the role. The clothing, seems a bit like Eureka 7 almost lol I do Iike it, but I agree with Harakiri on the note that it looks too adventurous. Perhaps this could be a more on the planet type wardroab (minus the spacey type stuff). Maybe lose the skirt ;D

Thanks for the feedback, very very good points there ..
I didn't think of any particular movie scenes with the waking up scene, I just try to imagine the frame-by-frame sequence following cibo's script snippet and put ideas on paper. But if it's too cliche then I'm happy to ditch it.
I tried to pick a perspective that wouldn't reveal the bf's face yet, maybe we get to hear his voice but not the face. But that's again up to you guys what you want to do.
Gomen it's not very good, it's my first go at it ..
Thanks cibo for the links, I'll read up.
Well, I've tried to come up with brainstormer ideas but I think they created more confusion than being productive, so I think I'll just wait here for more instructions before proceeding.
@yina: great stuff, the skirt does remind me of E7.

I'm just following your snippet hereciboWere you using the flashback/dream to show an event that happened in the past, perhaps when the phenomenon first appeared?
Read more... (click to view)so I'm not sure if the link to the past is explained later on in the story or what.

Again I'm not sure, I'm just trying to visualise your words.ciboAnd now she is in a shelter, or on a mission because of this phenomenon? It's a little hard to tell..

@ Super - Maybe I was reading too much into your storyboards.. Thanks for adding in a few different ideas anyway.
@ Yina - Great job on the sketches. You weren't kidding with the 'like to draw strange clothing' comment. :) Maybe something a bit more down to Earth would be good.

Just did a quick concept vid. This is mostly to convey how the camera will move.
The blue rectangle represents the hole torn in the ship. ->
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTWgM6EaMdE
This is a quick scene that will end the intro collage; giving an idea of how Selphina was stranded.
Will need a high res starfield, Earth surface map, and Ship design for a final render. Will add some debris as well.

Nice! I'll see what I can re: backgrounds.
Harakiri has found us a prospective mechanical designer. Here are some sketches:

I colored some sketches to see what colors we should use. I made lots, so I give your opinion on which color schemes you like. If there's any other color variations you'd like to see, just say so. It'll only take a second! :-)

Wow! wonderful job Lukas :). Peronally I like Cream red and Light-Dark brown. As for eyes Id say green or blue is intresting :)

Thank you lukas for coloring them. I like the dark brown version most (we shouldn't go for something shrill like pink because we are doing a serious movie). What about a dark green and dark blue version (with only little saturation). Black could look interesting too as well as grey (a lot of anime characters have silver hair).
What color of shading do you like?
http://www.animachi.de/temp/cibo/shading.jpg
We could for example use a blue shading tone for space scences. This way the image looks colder for example. A classical "just darker tones" shading would be boring. Plus, the colorists later can save time by just overlaying one multiplied color layer for shading.

Well, for the scene where the sun comes from behind the Earth, the shadows will have to be completely black I think, because there isn't anything to reflect the light in space, so everything will either be really bright or really dark (look at the moon for example). For the scenes when she is in space and the sun is still hidden, I think a blue or purple shade would be good. The light would be sliight because it's coming from the stars.
