The 7th and final book is out

just talk about the your opinion of the book, the plot or anything about the book XD (and if any have finished reading it would be better XD)

I personally think that the book is the best of all cause of, mainly, the plot and the way it is written. the ending is really, well i'm not gonna talk to myself now, would i?

Oh, I got it while I was on vacation.. The morning after the midnight release. And I read it that day... I kind of just tore through it though because I needed to know what happened. It was one of my favorite HP books, but I still like some of the earlier ones better.

I have to say though, that the Hogwarts Battle was my favorite part. I felt so bad for Snape at the end! And I also really loved it when Mrs. Weasley took down Bellatrix Lestrange. That was great!~

who would know he is the most loyal to dumbledore and he is in love with lily. sadly he has to die T_T. anyway, harry named one of his child as Albus Severus to show his respect for those man. the battle at hogwarts was fantastic and nice ending to it XD. hw do they wanna do the movie without cutting some part as almost all the part is important?

I've just finished reading it! It's fantastic! I was a bit afraid of how JK Rowling would end it, but the ending was really TERRIFIC! HP and the Deathly Hallows has become my favourite HP book!

I feel awful for Fred though... I thought one of the Weasleys would die, but it was quite a shock all the same...And Mad-Eye Moody, Lupin and Tonks! T_T...

Well she have to kill some of the characters or it will be lame if you're fighting the Dark Lord and won without a death toll. still i feel sad for those who died in that book.

i was kinda surprised to see harry's kids in the end, i mean it was definately unexpected.

I thought the book was great! Though I admit, the death toll was a bit shocking.

I actually shed a few tears during the scene where Harry goes to face his death, with his parents, Sirius, and Lupin all by his side. It really affected me for some reason. And wouldn't you know it - I had always figured Harry was partially a Horcrux. That bond he had with Voldemort through his scar was just too obvious.

My favorite part was when Harry was playing possum, and Narcissa actually helped him. It was a bit cruel making everyone believe he was dead, but that made it all the more entertaining when he suddenly pulled off the invisibility cloak. I was half expecting him to yell "Ta-Da" at any moment. xD

Great ending to a great series. Too bad it's all over... :(

I cried too! During Hermione being tortured and Ron crying out. Then during Dobby's death. And while Harry was walking into the woods.

It ended well. Despite all the death (Fred was the biggest shock to me) I thought it was a very cheerful ending book. It seemed so desolate at the beginning and through the middle- right up until Harry didn't die after all.

Ron & Hermione's kiss was really odd, too. And the ending; so sweet that Harry named his son after Snape.

*sigh* It is all over...

Rowling was more than willing to share her thoughts about what Harry and his friends are up to now.

Harry, Ron and Hermione
We know that Harry marries Ginny and has three kids, essentially, as Rowling explains, creating the family and the peace and calm he never had as a child.

As for his occupation, Harry, along with Ron, is working at the Auror Department at the Ministry of Magic. After all these years, Harry is now the department head.

“Harry and Ron utterly revolutionized the Auror Department,” Rowling said. “They are now the experts. It doesn’t matter how old they are or what else they’ve done.”

Meanwhile, Hermione, Ron’s wife, is “pretty high up” in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, despite laughing at the idea of becoming a lawyer in “Deathly Hallows.”

“I would imagine that her brainpower and her knowledge of how the Dark Arts operate would really give her a sound grounding,” Rowling said.

Harry, Ron and Hermione don’t join the same Ministry of Magic they had been at odds with for years; they revolutionize it and the ministry evolves into a “really good place to be.”

“They made a new world,” Rowling said.

The wizarding naturalist
Luna Lovegood, the eccentric Ravenclaw who was fascinated with Crumple-Horned Snorkacks and Umgubular Slashkilters, continues to march to the beat of her own drum.

“I think that Luna is now traveling the world looking for various mad creatures,” Rowling said. “She’s a naturalist, whatever the wizarding equivalent of that is.”

Luna comes to see the truth about her father, eventually acknowledging there are some creatures that don’t exist.

“But I do think that she’s so open-minded and just an incredible person that she probably would be uncovering things that no one’s ever seen before,” Rowling said.

Luna and Neville Longbottom?
It’s possible Luna has also found love with another member of the D.A.

When she was first asked about the possibility of Luna hooking up with Neville Longbottom several years ago, Rowling’s response was “Definitely not.” But as time passed and she watched her characters mature, Rowling started to “feel a bit of a pull” between the unlikely pair.

Ultimately, Rowling left the question of their relationship open at the end of the book because doing otherwise “felt too neat.”

Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom: “The damage is done.”

There is no chance, however, that Neville’s parents, who were tortured into madness by Bellatrix Lestrange, ever left St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies.

“I know people really wanted some hope for that, and I can quite see why because, in a way, what happens to Neville’s parents is even worse than what happened to Harry’s parents,” Rowling said. “The damage that is done, in some cases with very dark magic, is done permanently.”

Rowling said Neville finds happiness in his grandmother’s acceptance of him as a gifted wizard and as the new herbology professor at Hogwarts.

The fate of Hogwarts
Nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the school for witchcraft and wizardry is led by an entirely new headmaster (“McGonagall was really getting on a bit”) as well as a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. That position is now as safe as the other teaching posts at Hogwarts, since Voldemort’s death broke the jinx that kept a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor from remaining for more than a year.

While Rowling didn’t clarify whether Harry, Ron and Hermione ever return to school to finish their seventh year, she did say she could see Harry popping up every now and again to give the “odd talk” on Defense Against the Dark Arts.

More details to come?
Rowling said she may eventually reveal more details in a Harry Potter encyclopedia, but even then, it will never be enough to satisfy the most ardent of her fans.

“I’m dealing with a level of obsession in some of my fans that will not rest until they know the middle names of Harry’s great-great-grandparents,” she said. Not that she’s discouraging the Potter devotion!

“I love it,” she said. “I’m all for that.”

Thanks for the extra info! Those were some of the questions I still had at the end of the book - I wanted to know if Harry ever became an Auror. Well.. seeing as he killed Voldemort, who is better qualified? XD

I was a little disappointed in the epilogue. It seemed a little rushed and wasn't as satisfying as I hoped it would be. @_@ But thenagain, I probably wouldn't be happy with any HP ending because I didn't want it to end! Lol.

For me, in the book, the sweetest moment was when Ron was saying how Dumbledore must have known he would run out on Harry and Hermione, and Harry said "No, he must have known you would always want to come back". I was like.. AWWWW. XD

I went to the midnight party at Borders. I've been going there for the release of the last three books, but this year it was a madhouse! At midnight they started lining one group up at a time, according to color and number. I was in the second group to get the book - though it was nearly an hour later when I finally reached the front counter. I also got a free three foot long poster of the book's cover with my purchase! :D

I got lucky this year. I was in Florida on vacation, and when I reserved the book, I thought that I'd be at home, so I didn't have a reservation for the book! So I got to the bookstore down there like a 1/2 an hour before it opened so that I might have a chance of getting it. And I did luckily! I only had to wait in line for like 20 mins, and I got the nice poster too, a couple of stickers and some bookmarks. It wasn't unpleasant in the least bit! (and my dad paid for the book and the chocolate frog I got, so the experience was pleasant on my wallet too! xDD)

I never worry about it. I had to work at midnight, so when I got off at 6am I walked into Walmart, pulled one off the enormous stack, paid $17.98 for it, and walked out. It took 4.3 minutes.

I went to the midnight release at Boarders as well. The sheer amount of people in the store I went to was worse than braving Anime Expo. Said convention had the liberties of having a large floor plan; this midnight party was body-against-body packed. I got there fairly early and was lucky enough to get a chair. Even after the book went on sale, I had to wait over an hour to buy my book. Insane.

I agree; the first 3/4ths of the book was absolutely desolate. Rock-bottom had to have been when Ron walked out and Harry lost his wand.

Also, the epilogue seemed almost fanfic-y. But I appreciated being able to see what's happened in the future of the wizarding world.
