What makes Initial D so special?

Hey guys!
So..?? What does??
For me, well, i think that Initial D is one of the very few animes which has the maximum sense of realism in it as compared to most other animes. Something which can really connect at times with you. It's also set in the time period we're living in.... well... were.
Initial D is just a godlike anime. There's no need to even say anything about it. Just watch it. And after that.......... watch it again! :D
But what do you guys think?

I can't say Initial D is very realistic, but it's very unique in featuring car racing in a realistic way. The whole series is simply unmatched in it's drifting action.
The fact that Initial D started an entire culture in Japan makes it legendary.

To me, I found Initial D enjoyable, but SHOULDN'T be taken so seriously like many people do. Its special because its an Anime series based on Street Racing and the life of Street Racers in Japan (None of this Undercover Cop, Gang fighting, etc) pretty much like why I like Wangan Midnight, its about Cars and thats enough for me. Realism I can very much laugh at but like I said, I view it as entertainment :) not fact :p
The anime is loosely based on the actual life of the real life Drift King; Keiichi Tsuchiya. :)
