I hope no one chooses to make a wallpaper of Sailor Moon (from the anime), lol... after rewatching the series, I noticed many things...

So now, you'd have to be watching the show critically to see that the series is somewhat ecchi. I don't really know about the manga, but I know that it's kind of different from the anime so maybe if someone walls the manga, it might be fine.

First, I am choosing a role model based on the character's actions/personality/values AND how she is portrayed in the anime. While Sailor Moon does save the earth (and Mamoru, a man, very often, lol) and care for her friends and family, she is not really portrayed as a respectful female (but this is only my opinion).

For example, when the monsters grab the scouts, they almost always blush, and I don't know what reasons they would blush for except... you know...
I suppose it could just mean that lots of blood is rushing to their heads, but I highly doubt that...

And then, why does a 15 year old have the body of an adult? Why does she have to wear a mini skirt? To contrast, Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura wears outfits that are much less... slutty... to fight. By the way, there are many panty shots in Sailor Moon, even if they aren't as detailed as ecchi series.

I forgot what other things I saw, but that is enough for me to disqualify her, lol (but how a person is portrayed isn't a part of the rules, eh?). I just think that when people are describing why they chose their character for the wallpaper, they should also list some things that need improvement. I don't think there are that many perfect characters. It would be great if people really thought about the things they watch and link that to how society is. Maybe I'm being too much of an old woman here.

*nods* I totally agree with you. There are way to many panty shots and Neptune and Uranus goes way beyond my boarder's of morality. But I think one stands out from the main senshi.. which is the one.. I think I'm going to choose... just cause I haven't gotten to see My-Hime... I think there might be one there... I'm not sure I just want to see it, really. Anyways... Sailor Pluto is not like any of them. She is proper and wise. Devoted to her duties dispite how harsh her duties are. Even though, her job keeps her from being in a loving relationship and probably made her heart like stone. She's kind and opened up to Rini. As far as I know Pluto doesn't have many panty shots cause she's much older then the rest of the senshi/scouts. Even if she's down played in the Anime... the Manga... of which I got the run down on wikipedia... boy.. oh boy, does that women have pride. Once, she's said to of almost killed Sailor Moon cause she broke the law. Not sure what the law is but talk about devotion.
But I know the series has its 'ecchi' issues but at least Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask are a thing... oh, boy, don't get me started on the three starlights. They go beyond my boundry's as well. That would be why I wouldn't nominate them for best Female Role Model... but that's just me.
But I will admit.. I wish I could think of another character to use. I know there all not perfect but someone with morel's has to still be out there... Has to be...

Kaorux, you need to give us a reason for why you think the character is a good role model. I personally think she is waayyy too weak in the anime. I'm not saying a role model has to be a fighter, but...

And Angel-chan, why do you think Uranus and Neptune are bad? I hope it's not because they are lesbians. I do think that many animes with lesbians are geared towards guys and thus have some ecchi, but I don't feel this is the case for this couple. I haven't seen that much of them in action though, but I don't think they do anything that is too perverted. I just think it's mature humor.

Kaorux; your wall will work for the contest. Its a girl, only one, and completed. Just need to write up a paragraph or so about why you think she's 'the best anime role modle'... then submit that along with the link to your wall.. preferably the uploaded link.. as in imageshake or photobucket; whatever you use.. so our judge's don't have to use points in order to view your wall.. just seem's fairer to me.

And Luna... just them being lesbian is wrong.. so its not funny or mature humor and I don't care if it's for guy's pleasure. Its just wrong. I know you will probably not agree with it but that's fine. I just don't believe in it or think its moraly right. Its just way beyond my boundry's. If they had made that part of the series as it was in japan.. I'm sorry but I would not have watched any of it. Its beyond my beliefs. I wont throw them out for anyone.. I don't usually comment on such things but.. I have so.. this is my reply. Um.. yeah.
