This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

ET Quake Wars on a 8800GTX:
http://totalqw.filecloud.com/files/file.php?user_file_id=293010
This is going to be a very cool game!

But back to the topic, welcome to everyone who joined the group!
@Saka: Terabytes are allready realistic, although not in just 1 hdd ofcourse (too expensive atm). If I look at my total storage capabilities: 74GB (Raptor) + 250GB (WD Caviar SE) + 200GB (backup Maxtor DM10) + 320GB (WD MyBook) + 8GB (uninstalled old IDE HDD ^^) = 862GB. That's pretty close to 1TB. But I only use like 200GB total, lol.

Hi cabbscap,

Welcome to the group. I've seen your overclocking is good too ;-)
Very good ram.

See you.

I every body, and thanks to Roberto for inviting me here (even if he know I'm not fond of overclocking, but well I love computer so…)
I don't have much to say on me… well… and I don't want to talk about me,
What else, love testing software, I hate Microsoft, I love firefox, I can't cope with linux and I want to have a mac…

Well lets speak about my computer (it's more interesting than me)

So here is one of my computers:

A Compaq Contura 430C
CPU: don't remember, about 33Mhz I think
Ram: 8 Mb SMC
HDD: 230 Mb (yeah cool it can hold one anime episode!!)
OS: Win 3.11 for workgroup (isn't working don't have time to fix it) But Dos 7.2 works fine ;)
Some extras: diskette drive (no! no CD-rom drive), Swedish keyboard, and a 28K PCMIA modem!!
Here a pic:
http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/1434/dscf2254ma3.jpg
I use it to vectorize with Illustrator CS2... Hum... Well no, not really I just have fun with some times playing Doom (on a another screen because this one is broken, got a screwdriver too near…)

Ok seriously I have a better computer (well that’s not difficult) so here is it:
A dell dimension 8400 (great)
CPU: 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 HT
Ram: 1024Mb DDR2 400Mhz (4x256)
HDD: 3HDD: 80 + 160 + 200 Gb, all SATA
OS: XP pro sp2 (working fine, I have reinstalled it a few weeks ago, my windows install have very low life time, about 5 month max ^^)
GC: ATI Radeon X300 SE (the one that is used to view the performance of other cards because this one is the worst for any kind of test)
20.1" SyncMaster 204B (the best thing on my computer)
HL-DT-ST cd-rom writer
Philips 1660P1 DVD writer (not a bad one, no problem at all except that solidburn technology…)
What else...
A pinnacle TV card and a diskette drive, a modem (all unplugged, useless)
Here is a pic:
http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/4410/dscf2256tu0.jpg
So I use this computer for every think from leeching anime (the 160 and 200 Gb drive a full of about 90% of anime) to hang on IRC.
The black point of this computer is the graphic card, the rest is enough (maybe 512Mb of RAM would help when using Illustrator and Catia but it's not vital or maybe getting an old 80Gb drive to make a Raid0)
I haven't change much things on it except HDD DVD drives and TV card, When I will have some more money I will be able to make one by myself (Already made on myself but it was for my parent so I made it the less expensive as possible, about 300€ for something correct)
Ops nearly forgot to say that I have a 15" LCD screen trying to sell it ^^

I know, i reinstall windows also a lot of times ...
It's boring to reinstall all programs & co ...
I've seen you've got 4*ram -> it means 2 times dual channel ?
Does it improve performances ?

It shouldn't really. Ofcourse more RAM increases the performance, so the 4x 256MB would be better than 2x or 3x, but I doubt if the performance is really better or actually equal to 2x 512Mb. The data is spread over 4 modules instead of 2, so the transfer speed is lowered. Note with that theory it doesn't mean for instance a single 1Gb piece of RAM is better than 2x512Mb. It's a bit complicated to explain, but in short the optimal condition for memory is dual channel (2 pieces).
Decent system though, neb1236 and ofcourse welcome to the group.

Lol well I don't know if it increase performance a lot, but for sure going for 512 to 1024 does improve performance (I can finally surf on internet when using Illustrator ^^)
By the way, I forgot I had another PC (forgot... I forgot one of my PC... amazing...)
It's a Dell latitude D810
512 Mb DDR
60Gb HD
15.4" screen (1680x1050... pixels are so small...)
Intel centrino
etc etc... (don't have time for full review)
And... thank you for your welcome :)

Just a quick note. Not all machines work best with 2 RAM modules. My computer has an Intel 5000X chipset, it has 2X 144bit branches, each the width of two DIMM's. So it effectively has 4 channels. Also it has dedicated read and write lanes, so I benefit from having lots of RAM modules. Though the best configuration seems to be 4 dual rank modules (I have 4 single rank modules). Once you go over 4 you can read and write more modules concurrently but with greater latency.

You are completely right, though I was talking about the mainstream PCs. I should have noted that indeed. Windows X64 running machines have 4 (or more) modules too to operate optimally. And AMD's Quad FX config too, to name a few more examples.
