I know that sometimes it takes a little imagination and skill to create a wall, but once in a while a little tip or suggestion can go a long way. I know that session zero helps us to develop walls better, but what if we're not ready to put the wall in SZ yet? Well, this is where we can ask the questions of how we do what we do and to ask you how you do what you do.
I know that personally. I'm having trouble with vectoring. I can't seem to get the pointy edges of Kenshin's hair with the fill tool in PS, and when I use the brush tool, it just doesn't turn out the same. Anybody have any tips to help me out, so that I can finish my wall?

Well, I use the polygonal lasso tool, I think it's called that and select the area which I want to color and then I do that.
First - I add all the color places I want to color in DIFFERENT LAYERS.
Second - I click on that little eye next to each layer to make the layer un-visible.
Third - I do the lines with the pen tool.
Forth - I fix some of the lines edges and roundness with the lasso tool and a black brush.
Fifth - I click on the eye next to the layers again and make all the colors I've used visible again.
Sixth - I remove the whole background image.
So all that's left, is my vector! n_n
But I can only do this on animescreenshots. I can't vector manga scans because I suck.
I don't know if this was a tip, but this is how I do. :3

Thanks. I will try this out. I never thought to make the coloring a layer as well. I make layers for everything. Hair, eyes, clothes, etc. It never occurred to me to make the color a layer. Thanks for the tip though.

I also do layers for everything. :3
But most of my vectors has too many layers because I make a new layer for each color, including shadow colors.
But if you want, I can make a tutorial image if I vector again, which I think I might be doing. :)
I'm up for a SOUL EATER wallpaper this week, I just need to finish my maths studying, test tomorrow. ;_;

Im not good at explaining how to vector XD
1- I create a layer for every part for example the hair, first i create the outlines then i start to put the colors of the hair in new layers with the pen tool, and if i have to make something umm like line edges i use some movement effect XD thats what i do, as Stereoman i use 1 layer for each color, some people makes one layer for each color and uses it for the whole vector but in my case no XD and it wil be good Stereoman if you make a tutorial ^^ maybe i can learn more from you :D
see ya!

Thanks Stereoman, this has helped alot. I've been working on a new vector and It's coming along really well. I've made the outline into one layer. I will put the eyes on another layer.
Thanks Leviatan. I didn't think to do each color as a layer. I usually put all of the hair color into one layer, which is probably why my first vector came out kind of weird. Anyways, I will post my newest vector in a few days...or less on Deviant Art

What is the best resolution for walls? I usually use 200 or 300 px/in.

Rin: Wow, I've never really thought about the resolutions. Now when you're talking about it... I shall check it out next time I do a new one. XD
Thanx. Stereoman. I always tinkle with mine, but it doesn't seem to come out right no matter what. I don't have a flatbed scanner either. It's one of those copy/print/fax/scan printers so that might be why it isn't working very well.
Does anybody know how to do really good blood splatters on a wall? I want to add some blood to one of the walls I'm working on in Session Zero. Thanks!
