I'm still a little uncertain about this, because, obviously, i've never done this before. xD; please be nice as i try to follow in august's footsteps. tell me if something's terribly wrong or if you have suggestions to make this competition better.

theme of the contest

A Thousand Words
this is an idea derived from two wallpapers (actually three, one being as of now unfinished): august's carnelian wall and my death note wall. it's based on the saying: "pictures are worth a thousand words". i think it's self explanatory; just think of the "One Word Says It All" contest and go in the completely opposite, to the extreme. x] so yup, i'm asking you to throw out the generally wise advice of minimizing text for this contest's sake. it can be a challenge to incorporate a large body of text and make it aesthetic. have fun cramming!

some rules/instructions/stuff

--> the usual: giving the okay to collabs, suitable old walls, walls not submitted to the AP gallery, and replacing entries before the deadline; one entry per member
--> must there be a thousand words? no, just an appropriately large amount. exactly how much is up to your discretion, so please use common sense. if you aren't sure, feel free to contact me.
--> any rules regarding how the text is incorporated? nothing that i can think of right now except maybe one thing: a decent part of it must be legible. scribbles on sheets of paper hidden in the background don't count. the text must have some central significance to the wall!
--> must the text be written by me? lyrics, quotes, and various forms of others' intellectual property may be used, if appropriate, but i don't need to remind you: do credit them. :P considering how the walls will be judged though, you might want to avoid brushes.

rating scheme

5 points = text pt. 1 (originality/relevance to wall) in essence, this part looks into the text and at what is actually written.
5 points = text pt. 2 (quantity/quality/design) this part is about the outward appearance of the text and its style coherence to the rest of the wall.
5 points = layout/composition
5 points = technical merit

Hmm, wonder how that Death Note wall I working on would look with a thousand words in it? ^_^ I think I'll try that! Either way though, I'm definitely making an entry for this ^____^ (great contest n_n)

*note* for the prizes, maybe think about just offering the free scans thing? You've got, like, a bazillion papers to use, and most people choose scans for prizes anyway ^_^;

Honestly... I'm full with ideas... But then when it comes to make them into a wall... Hum... it's kind of impossible to make :-(

@august: i suppose scans would be the best thing in a community of wallers. =] funny though, i have plenty of papers from my submissions and stuff, but i've personally only ever downloaded 3 scans from AP. xD

@zazou: i can consider extending the deadline by a week...would that be enough to help or would you like it to be even longer? i just don't want the contest to go on for too long. x_x

A week seems a bit small but I guess we will see... Let's start walling first and close to the deadline we'll see if someone (me? NO! Never! I'm a fast waller! Didn't you know? (xD)) needs some more time. But of course not lot more than a week. :)
