Well I don't know how the chief here decides :D. But as for me I'd also be okay with just a vector of the character (or a scan composition).
The character MIGHT be cosplaying. But he/she might also be really in a mixed world without even realizing that he/she doesn't belong there.
I probably will participate in that contest too :D - however since I have work to do even on vacation, I'm not sure if I really can make it. I will try to though :).
Anyway: I think GoldenApes idea works too - and someone else might e.g. use that vector (or scan composition) of the character to create a wallpaper. An alternative would be to work in (small) groups. Someone with vast abilities would help create the vector - and someone else would work on the background etc. :).

Ok well since some people might prefer to just do a vector instead of a full wallpaper, maybe we can split it into two categories? Like one for just a basic character change (Choose one anime character and make him/her look like someone else in another anime/show/movie/etc) and another category would be for those who wanna make a full wallpaper with the same concept. You would also have the choice of either doing it individually or through a collab (2 people per team).

I kinda wonder if my idea fits this.
i was planning on using a scan on lucy from elfen lied, and basically using the lyrics from "lucy in the sky with diamonds" to make the scene for the wall, obviously she would be in the sky, with diamonds. does that fit?

Well I think it might work - since you change places. But I think it'd be better if the change would be easily visible to everyone.
Plus make the deadline ways off, November and December will be heavy months for the students.
@Dam: The idea's kinda vague. It'd be better if you can make the reference more obvious. Like make the wallpaper look like the album art of the song or something.

Not gonna change the concept for the competition. i have a certain feeling i was going to go for with this wall, and i was going to only imply what it means, and the let the viewers research the song, if they really curious. though it wouldn't not be obvious, for anyone who knows the song.
just wanted to see if it would fit, and i guess not.
