what does dattebayou mean? (did I spell it right?) It's starting to piss me off, cuz I just can't figure it out lol. In the english dubs Naruto tends to say "Believe it!" quite alot, but I doubt thats what it means. So can anyone help me out here??
Alrighty, I researched it for you! ^__^ Here are the answers I found, alrighty?
dattebayo
OK. Let’s get this straight.
Dattebayo has no *specific* meaning but it isn’t a nonsense word. It’s an ‘ender’ for Japanese sentences like ‘’desu'’.
(In Rurouni Kenshin’s ‘’degozaru'’ that’s just an ancient, Edo period way of ending a sentence formally.)
Other enders include:
1. ‘’wa'’: girlish ending; usually tacked on after ‘desu’
2. ‘’ze'’: tough guy ending; usually found as a mix with desu = ‘’daze'’
3. ‘’yo'’: stresses the topic of the sentence
4. ‘’ka'’: is like a Japanese question mark
5. ‘’kudasai'’: technically a ‘please’ or something
6. ‘’da'’: slang version for ‘desu’
7. ‘’dabe'’: country-hick slang (Touhoku dialect)
8. ‘’datte'’: ‘that’s the way it is’ or ‘that’s what he/she said’ ender;
Remember not to take this translation *literally*. This could also be used to stress that the topic of the conversation can’t be taken/argued any further.
So, ‘’dattebayo'’ is most likely that ‘’datte'’ + ‘’dabe'’ + ‘’yo'’
= ‘low-class country-hick version of ‘that’s the way *it* is’ ender.
That must be how the Americans came up with ‘’Believe it.'’
(t/l note: Believe it would literally be ‘Shinjite kudasai.’)
Because of the vague, nonspecific meaning, ‘’dattebayo'’ can be used in different ways (one is listed below).
In any case, ‘’dattebayo'’ is a (practically made-up) combination ender that is supposed to be Naruto’s catch phrase.
‘’Nandattebayo?'’
(a) Nani + datte + dabe + yo
(b) ‘What?’ + ‘that’s the way it is’ ender + hick ender + ’stress on topic’ ender
(c) t/l: ‘’(sheez) What is it?'’
I also found this! ^-^
The ending “-tteba” basically means “I said!” as the use in english when you tell someone perhaps to quit and they don’t so you continue with “I SAID quit it!”
For a Japanese example it would be:
Yamete-Stop
Yametetteba-I said Stop
or
Yametettebayo-I SAID stop
Naruto’s use of it really doesn’t have so much meaning other than that the creators of the show wanted him to have a speech pattern so people would associate it with Naruto when they heard it. It’s similar to Konohamaru’s usage of “kore” at the end of a lot of his sentences. It doesn’t really serve a purpose other than to give his speech a sort of flair.
Hope this helped! ^-^ And sorry I'm answering such an old question! X___X I'm a dork
What the hell...I have some guys that keep telling me that Naruto's father is the 4th Hokage and that he is the leader of Akatsuki too...They just insist that there was an episode that clearly defined that the 4th is both those things...I believe they are talking crap...What do you think?Am I right?

I think I answered this a couple posts back in here...
There are some rumors going on about these points, but I am quite sure they have not been stated as fact in the series. What your friends are telling you is most likely speculation, for two reasons.
1- They really have no idea and are just repeating what they heard from someone else.
or
2- They were able to see some secret sceen that even the hardcore fans never got to see.
I am leaning towards the first option as a guess.
Truth be told. I don't think anyone knows who the Akatsuki leader is, or what he looks like! I have a pic of him though in the picture thread, go find it and tell me who you should believe...

killerSasake12my question is why does naruto get him self in so much trouble???
Uh...well he doesn't get himself into shyte anymore. Trouble sort of comes to him. But initially he caused an uproar just to get attention. It's a natural thing when you don't have any parental figures or friends around you, you would wanna get noticed even if it may be in a negative light.
Well I totally agree with ye astro =3
This is like the toughest question you've thrown at me Ace:
Naruto is believed by many to have a Mother who gave him birth. If that's so... then why is there no sign of her in the story or evidence saying she existed in the village?
I feel that since the entire village persecuted Naruto throughout his childhood, they would have done the same to his mother so she left the village to escape it and felt it'll be better for Naruto to grow up without seeing her shunned by everyone as well. If she was still in the village isn't it weird for noone, especially the Third or Iruka, not to know of her whereabouts and not tell Naruto seeing the suffering he went through growing up alone.
Also consider the storyline, it's all about how Naruto struggles, all by himself, battling opposition left and right to achieve greatness. If he had a mother, or a parental figure, that existed in the village, the point of the storyline is lost and the audience isn't affected that much, whereas it should be able to leave the audience with some form of emotion and gain as much interaction as possible- which eventually makes people want to keep on watching.
This is the best answer (if not long, lol) answer I can come up with.
EDIT: Looking back at this answer, it doesn't make much sense to me...:P

Very nice thinking Shun-chan. Remember this question was based on your ninja rank!
Can't very well give a pro like YOU, some easy stuff now can I?
Second, the reason for the question, Many people thought this fact to be true! Which as you can see dosn't really make too much sense. And in theory, she would have volunteered her baby as a vessel, so why would she be persecuted for her already sacrafice. Yes as you thought, stuff does not add up. Which is why my theory on Naruto's existance keeps sounding ever so more plauseable as the story continues.
Good work by the way..... Mission success!

gtaking, I think it's best if you put this question in a spoiler box b/c some people may not have read the current manga chapters. Anywayz you raise a good question and this is what I think:

I hope this answers your question, I'm not entirely sure of the correct answer myself but this is the best I can come up with.
Um..........yeah i have a question. People say the reason why Itachi killed his clan cause he want the advance version Sharingan or the more stronger 1 and he had to kill his whole entire clan to get it. But he didn't kill sasuke and Sasuke is his brother so how did her get it? Oh yeah some people say the only reason why Itachi killed his clan is because he didn't want Orochimaru to have the Sharingan. Can you please help me I have been watching Naruto for a long time and now I'm getting confused because everyone saying different things. Please help me!!

My theory was that he did it because as he said he was testing his abilities, never thought of the orochimaru thing though. And to me he left Sasuke alive because he was the only one he cared about and thought maybe one day he could kill him or something.
