Sat, 15 Apr 2006 11:23:14 -0400 ~gwynva http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ The mangas i buy come from USA to my country, so i generally buy VIZ and Tokyopop products. FMAlchemist is very good, Ceres: Celestial Legend-i love the plot, Basara-it kind of gives me the feeling of Mulan :), Ranma 1/2-sooo funny and Hot Gimmick (i am rather ashamed to say because it is something like the bold and the beautiful :P ) from Viz. But i must admit i like Tokyopop better than VIZ, Gravitation, Love Hina and Fruits Basket. Tue, 14 Mar 2006 10:39:45 -0500 ~Sekundes http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ I like 金田一to most, sorry don't know what is call in english, if somebody know chinese and also know
the english name of this manga please transtale for me^^". I like this manga is because the crime play
is doing so good in manga, specailly on the old version, you never know wht and whois killer goin to be,
that the best thing why I like this manga so much.

the other manga I like:
Gundam Cross Bone
Dragon Ball
DinDou Tue, 14 Mar 2006 07:11:07 -0500 ~S2NINJA http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ Most of the stuff I have are from either tokyopop or VIZ.

So far, for Rurouni Kenshin, Viz is doing an ok job, and I'm really happy that they started releasing a volume a month...(been waiting so long for it to be translated!)

as for tokyopop, I think they did an AWESOME job of GTO, but i'm very, very dissapointed with what they did to Initial D (name change, censoring, bad slang)... as some have said before, they're somewhat inconsistent. However, the Initial D is the only manga I felt that I just couldn't stand because of the amount that it was butchered.

ADV IMO does a decent job of FMP, but that's the manga series i've bought from them.

DH on the other hand, isn't too bad. the only downside is that some of their series are insanely expensive per volume... so i had to stop buying them. Mon, 13 Mar 2006 14:14:40 -0500 $thundastormz http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ Hmm... Del-Rey does a better job at translating by far. I love how they retain the SFX then put a small translation beside it/in close proximity... doesn't seem like any of the other companies do this. Tokyopop leaves them in sometimes, but they don't always translate them and Viz replaces it altogether, which in my opinion can destroy the artwork... (They did it in "Host Club" by Hatori Bisco and you wouldn't imagine my disappointment when I saw a page spread had been ruined).

I think nowadays Tokyopop put cultural tidbits in the back (correct me if I'm wrong... I only have older stuff done by them ^^;; ), but I love how Del-Rey goes above and beyond to retain the original meanings instead of trying to "Americanize" it.

Of course, it's all really irrelevant because I only look for the title of the manga regardless of the publisher. So my collection contains mostly Viz stuff (with a touch of Del-Rey) XD Sun, 12 Mar 2006 09:13:12 -0500 ~tingsan http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/

DarkMousy090

Let's see. I hate Tokyopop's new logo on their manga. They switched from the small one to the large red one right in the middle of a lot of my series. And they can't decide if they want to read them left to right or right to left. But they've got good series. Viz is good too.

welll, tokyopop's publishes some 'manga' from left to right because those 'mangas' are either manwha-korean manga or american manga. anyway I like tokyopops because they have a wide selection and i like del rey because they have the translation notes. VIZ is ok... i guess...
I generally like any publishers though Sun, 12 Mar 2006 07:04:31 -0500 ~aatu http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ Yea yea i like ADV too! well only because of yotsuba, and they didn't mess up!
i also like cmx only for the 'land of the blindfolded' though... Sat, 11 Mar 2006 15:13:31 -0500 ~Hosoji http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ Hmmm...probably Vis just because I like a lot of their Shonen titles (TPOT, yo!), but Tokyopop takes a close second for the simple size of their offering...I'd say ADV because they have a bunch of titles that I love...but they're just way to sketch when it comes to releases...I mean, they haven't even updated the manga section of their website in two years? What's up with that? *sigh* I sure hope they finish Chrono Crusade and Yotsuba&!... Sat, 11 Mar 2006 13:44:32 -0500 ~kindergoth http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ It seems to me(* looking at collection) that it appears i like TOKYOPOP.
hm... Sat, 11 Mar 2006 13:40:18 -0500 ~Huroman http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ In México publisher Editorial Vid, VIZ. But the american´s comics are the most selling, yet. Sat, 11 Mar 2006 12:55:27 -0500 ~Sillypeach http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ I like Viz, because the translation is great. I dislike ADV, although I like how they always include colour pages. Fri, 10 Mar 2006 16:16:44 -0500 ~caffinequeen15 http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ I like Tokyopop and Viz. Tokyopop has tons of great manga, kept in right-left format. Viz is also great, and in some of their mangas, most Yuu Watase's they have a glossary in the back for the sound effects which I find helpful. It'd be great though if all manga companies would keep some of the picture in color like they were originally and used better quality paper. I sure wouldn't mind paying extra for that! Would you? Fri, 10 Mar 2006 13:31:45 -0500 ~Luminett http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ TokyoPop is my favorite for a number of reasons. It's the largest of them all and offers a wide variety in the types of manga it publishes. The company is consitant as well. Lastly, pretty much all of the manga I read are TokyoPop manga. n-n Wed, 08 Mar 2006 22:15:07 -0500 ~kurumi1souma http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ Im not sure but i like tokyopop and viz media Sun, 05 Mar 2006 20:43:32 -0500 ~rainbowtuner http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ Frankly speaking, every company has many good works. It is hard to say which one is my favorite...^_^
If it is necessary to make a comparison,I may prefer gonzo. Many classic works such as saikano, hellsing, chrono crusade... are made by it. Sun, 05 Mar 2006 10:14:58 -0500 ~-sabishii0tenshi- http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/4904/ Viz. It doesn't accept every piece of junk that comes along (like Tokyopop does; have you seen Cresent Moon and Instant Teen before? ><), and each manga has this professional, polished air. Like x/1999, Kare First Love, Fushigi Yugi Genbuu Kaiden, Hana-Kimi, and Basara. Sometimes their translations need some work, though.
Sat, 04 Mar 2006 23:35:26 -0500
