Soul Calibur 4 http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ What do you think about the new SC4? en-us Sat, 16 Aug 2008 10:15:04 -0400 AnimePaper RSS Generator http://static2.animepaper.net/images/v5/icons/ap-logo-sm.gif animepaper.net http://www.animepaper.net/ Animepaper site syndication $shijirou http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/

Insilencio

Is this worth getting a PS3 for? Both have the same features except the achievements which the PS3 doesn't have but with the new trophy system Namco might patch it.

It narrows down to which Star Wars character you want. I've played both versions. Yoda on the 360 is fast and nimble. Darth Vader on the PS3 is slow but more of a technical/methodical character.

I've gotten the PS3 version just because Vader is badass. ^^ Sat, 16 Aug 2008 10:15:04 -0400 ~Historian http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ Me and my friends love that game, but we are very noob at it. We basically button smash or find a good chain and keep using it. Haha. There is a lot to love about this game, easy to pick up, complex system (maybe not for you but for me it is), and the chance to bash each others brain out with the characters you each create! Good times, good times. Sat, 16 Aug 2008 05:07:32 -0400 ~Insilencio http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ Is this worth getting a PS3 for? I'm debating it... Fri, 15 Aug 2008 12:14:33 -0400 ~hsv91ss http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ I just hired it the other day and now i am addicted

i shall buy it as soon as i have the spare money. Tue, 12 Aug 2008 03:16:40 -0400 ~RaiderX http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ The white hair dude is Algol, hes the final boss of the game. Fight him as the last fight for arcade and sometimes in Story, however some story modes end with Siegfried/Nightmare. Mon, 11 Aug 2008 23:29:55 -0400 ~achaye http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ Ahhh how I wish I had an XBOX or PS3; this game is slowly swaying me to consider getting one. Who's the funky looking dude with white hair, braids, and what seems to be some sort of evil outfit? Thu, 07 Aug 2008 01:12:52 -0400 ~volksen http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ I am disappointed in the Single Player mode. It really lacks depth.
There is not enough of a change between the characters stories during the play.
The character creation is great but I would have gladly traded it for a more well developed Adventure Mode. Tue, 05 Aug 2008 09:33:10 -0400 ~gulabjamun http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ I actually had to finally cave in and buy a PS3 for this game. I have to say... I'm a bit disappointed in some aspects. The single player just seems to have deteriorated over the years. I expected much better than the Tower of Souls mode from the latest game in this huge series. I still say Soul Calibur for DC is still the best, but SCi is still the worst. This is turning out more fun than SCi at least. But download content, or more accurately, pay codes, are evil and makes me worry about the future of gaming. I'm going to hate myself when I download Yoda or some other cool thing I can't resist.

But I just LOVE Character Creation mode. I'm spending so much time just making characters. I think half of my time has been spent in it. And this game has the best character design in the whole series!

Sophitia

I got the LE version btw. It was kind of a waste. In the past, SC games have come with FREE preorder bonuses that had better content. SCII came with a huge, full art book and some artwork. And SCi had a better T-shirt, which was free. The only thing I like from this one is the poster but it's too small and I think it could have been done better. I was expecting something cooler from the exclusive content too. Sun, 03 Aug 2008 20:27:14 -0400 $Sporky http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ Character creation is pure win, I spend more time in that mode then playing the actually game. The game itself is just soul caliber, all flash with little substance. Sun, 03 Aug 2008 17:43:03 -0400 ~asianpride http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ Soul caliber 4 is great to me, new armor system that gives you the chance for an instant ko move (though rarely used, i just break the armor to get more damage from that area), new character creations, more defined, most mostly the same, graphics are great, the only problem i have with it so far is that the new button controls: they took the block and kick from teh top of the controler, that is a real bitch for me, harder to do my usual combos. THe story mode is very short too. only 5 stages, though you fight multiple characters on that stage. THe final boss is a joke. Unlocking things by buying them in character creation is... weird. But over all i still enjoy it while playing with friends. Sat, 02 Aug 2008 20:43:06 -0400 ~windzard http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ Personally, I think THIS is the newest strength of the Soul Series, letting our own creative minds reach out and make our own characters... up to 50 of them. I'd have to say Soulcalibur IV is still a solid title save its few distractions, and it doesn't let me down from my expectations. The guest characters are well-made, as odd as they are to have in Soulcalibur, and the Tower of Lost Souls help to make up for the disappointingly short story mode.
If you're a fan of Soulcalibur, I recommend it with a purchase. If you're skeptical of the changes, but want to still try it out, borrow from a friend, or rent it. Either way, once you step onto the Stage of History and look past the few holes, you'll find its very solid and will probably satisfy. And I think that the new CaS system is.. it feels smaller than it did in SC3. I remember in SC3, you could change equipment on your head, face, neck, shoulders, three different tiers on your body, waist, two leg sets, socks, ankles, and boots. Now, some of those seem to have been lumped together, limiting customization a little more harshly than I have been expecting. While the new parts really do make up for this slightly annoying change it still is slightly annoying.
Sat, 02 Aug 2008 09:19:59 -0400 ~Kiitastic http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ I'm looking forward to getting this game as soon as I can! I haven't had a chance yet... don't even know if it's out in my area. Haha, I haven't really been keeping up with it that well...

Unfortunately, I'm not a Star Wars fan, so that aspect of the game means absolutely nothing to me D: I kind of wish there could be more secret characters than just those, but I suppose I can't complain after getting KOS-MOS in the last game (even though it wasn't a very good cameo... rawr, custom character parts. I want a REAL character!) Wed, 30 Jul 2008 22:26:00 -0400 ~mariozx http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/56796/ All of the core characters seem pretty balanced to me. The starwars characters were pretty nice as well. The CAS seemed to be a little weak in my personal opinion, but since I haven't gotten everything for it I might be a little suprised in th end. The Ending for the characters was what really put a chip on my shoulder though. Very few of them made any sense to me and some of them made me wanna beat the crap outta the characters (Taki and Cassandra). All in all it was a pretty good game, so good good in the end.
