Tue, 05 Feb 2008 04:43:48 -0500 ~aurahack http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ The vector looks good. Clean line and clean colors. Maybe more details, but it's pretty good.

The problem is the background. It's a pretty bad mess of splatter brushes. Kind of like taking a paintbrush, dipping it in a ton of colors and whipping it around a canvas. You need to centralize your colors a bit more. There's an unforgiving amount of green, diversify a bit. If you're working with splatter brushes, it's also pretty important that you create a flow with the brush work. There's a difference between having the character interact with the paint splatter... and just randomization.

Practice a bit more, try to vary your color techniques. And although I come off sounding really negative, it's a great start. Don't get me wrong. Mon, 04 Feb 2008 03:49:28 -0500 ~hacklerl http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ I think it needs more shadows just like Nizsu said.
It will help to show some sort of a light path and help give it a dimensional feel instead of being so flat. Plus, the text needs something. Not exactly sure what, but it blends to much with the bg. The overall looks good though. Keep up the good work. Sun, 03 Feb 2008 10:56:45 -0500 ~nizsu http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ I think it would look better if you add more shadows/details on her hair/face/clothes ^_^. you should give the bg an idea instead of brushing randomly Sun, 03 Feb 2008 07:46:32 -0500 ~Artifact http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ I love the background, but I'm perturbed that Nel seems to blend into it because her clothes are the same color... Don't know anything about vectors or stuff, so I can't help you there... Looking forward to the finished product. :) Sun, 03 Feb 2008 04:05:18 -0500 ~Some-nick-that-has-not-been-chosen http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ First, its a great wall
I think that when they say it's extremely plain it means: get another image of hers put some gradient on it and attach it on the background.
The background seems just fine to me, it might look nicer if instead of a green wall with white and black brushes, you used a black wall with green and white brushes, but who knows ...
Well good luck on putting it into the gallery ;D
Sat, 02 Feb 2008 16:21:17 -0500 ~twinklexin http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ I'd say that the background's too distracting. It pulls your attention from the main focus of the wallpaper, Nel. Try something a little less distracting and repetitive for your background, perhaps? Furthermore, the text definitely requires some work. A bold outline, perhaps, could help the text stand out more if you find fixing the background too bothersome. Sat, 02 Feb 2008 13:32:55 -0500 ~Yozora http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/

Doki

It's extremely plain... just a vector on top of brushes.
Things need to be added, and blending would help.

(And use image-shack, so people can see every detail of your wallpaper. ^^)

Definitely right. The colours don't even blend well together. I'd suggest working on the vector. you know: add more tones and shades and stuff.

The "Nel" text written is not exactly clear. you can either change the text colour, or change the entire background composition. I'd suggest the latter. The reason is simple: If you make a contracting background, you object focus looks more outstanding. Sat, 02 Feb 2008 07:56:23 -0500 ~Unity http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ I like it. I might make the NEL text a bit clearer, if you moved it down 30-50 pixels it would be away from the lighter colors up top of it, and easier to read. Sat, 02 Feb 2008 00:42:12 -0500 ~Doki http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ It's extremely plain... just a vector on top of brushes.
Things need to be added, and blending would help.

(And use image-shack, so people can see every detail of your wallpaper. ^^) Fri, 01 Feb 2008 17:11:38 -0500 ~potemagico http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ Very Nice...
nice job boy!! Fri, 01 Feb 2008 17:06:15 -0500 ~Carcrazy2424 http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/58832/ Wanted to know is it's gallery worthy :P

"I'm not really sure what made me want to make the background the way I did... it may not be the best here, but I still think it's decent. :P

Thanks to Jopuma for letting me use his vector."

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h267/Carcrazy2424/nel_final.jpg
It's not actually that small either, that's photobucket's doing. ;) Fri, 01 Feb 2008 16:52:10 -0500
