Will the PS3 die???

I honestly wouldn't even notice if the ps3 died. I love the XBOX and since the FF Father is making games for it alone, I will continue to love it, and the wii. FF13 isn't a final fantasy in my opinion. So if more consoles want that horrible insult to the series on their systems as well, let them have it. Square needs all the money it can get, right?

But no, I don't think so. Especially with the new PS3 slim. I think it will do quite well for itself.

PS series have no history about dying,unless sony have a huge finacial problem at all,so don`t worry your PS3,it can live in my own life.

PS3 launched later than x360 and it was more expensive , so little kids who asked parents for a console , obviously they bought x360 because cheaper price. and so majority of casual gamers. Some hardcore PS2 fans waited till ps3 launch but that was minority now that x360 has sold many units lot's of game developers 3rd party supports x360 more than ps3 . Square Enix , Capcom, Rockstar etc... if ps3 would launch earlier than x360 or at same time and price would be same i am sure PS3 would dominate but look at the bright side PS3 1st party games are not quanity but quality.

Wii won't die either. Sure, it may not be doing the same kind of business as it was doing at the time of release but you have to remember Nintendo made a ton of money around that time. Wii won't "die". It will slip in popularity but Nintendo are doing extremely better off the Wii than before they even released it.

No one console is going to die this generation. To be fair, the people behind each division knows what they're doing and their game they're playing. They make some dumb decisions from time to time but they know how to survive. Microsoft survived through the original Xbox days, Nintendo survived through the Gamecube days and Sony are surviving the current generational war. The PS3 Slim is kind of a testament to the point that Sony aren't just going to lay down and accept defeat.

Just because the PS3 loss some of their exclusives doesn't mean it is going to die. It may not be the leading brand, but there are still great exclusives on the console, such as Uncharted 2 and the God of War series.

I think the Wii will die because there aren't many games for the Wii. Compared with the computing power of theses consoles the Wii is the most expensive.

If anything, I agree with this poster. As for the newly released PS3 Slim, I love the new thin look and it's nice they made the price more affordable. The 120GB hard drive is also a nice touch.

I really, really doubt you're going to see lower than $299. They're already selling at a loss at the price as it is. That's really as cheap as it's going to get.

I don't see the PS3 dying anytime soon. Sony has never failed with the PS1 and PS2 and the PS3 has been releasing some great games. I'm still surprised the X-Box actually made it when it was first released but it's still there with no signs of defeat. Sony should lower price of their console even more.

With the recent price drop and the announcement of the slim I cant see the PS3 dieing. In my opinion, the argument "it's too expensive" or "i cant afford" it is no longer valid since now all three consoles are priced almost the same. The Wii is still 250 dollars and only a mere 50 less than the PS3.

Then there's the solid lineup of PS3 exclusives.

Recently Sony releases a slim version. I think the Wii will die because there aren't many games for the Wii. Compared with the computing power of theses consoles the Wii is the most expensive.

It has the benefit of a free online play platform, an ever-improving install base and cheaper manufacturing costs.

As it progresses, the rocky start will be fixed by the later game sales. Sony has made a habit of coming out with something really cool about a year earlier than they should have.

Sega did that too, except they were two years ahead of everybody else, and nobody was ready to adopt buggy, unready technology :P

The PS3 is a good sell because of the blu-ray. It's the cheaper blu-ray player on the market.

So when other brands of blu-ray player will do cheaper stuff, the PS3 should take a big hit. But i'm not worried cause 'till then the console will have a lot of good games at a better price than now.

The PS3 will not die. Sony has a lot of muscle behind it still and there are still many years left on this console generation. If nothing else, it's still one of the most widely used Blu-ray players, and there are still plenty of excellent exclusive titles.

That being said, I own an Xbox360 and a Wii, but not a PS3. When the PS3 slim comes out, I will be very tempted to get one.... (I'm a late adopter in general). Up to this point, there hasn't been enough incentive for me to buy one, but I'll have to re-evaluate for the slim PS3.
