Its happening like with normal Naruto , Sasuke starts out much more stronger than Naruto and the balance shifts during the series , Sasuke is beign portrayed as weak right now , if Itachi would have wanted to kill him and was 100% healthy he would have killed Sasuke. And in the battle against 8 Tails he got saved by his team. Basically hes been going more and more downhill as the series goes on.

Itachi was always more powerful than sasuke.
he died naturally...
but the way sasuke was shown in the beginning of shippuudden he seemed to much powerful..
well sasuke must be learning forbidden techniques but akatsuki was never a match to the one and only uchiha sasuke...

Personally... I know Itachi is and always will be better then Sasuke, but for now i shall take a neutral stance to cut ppl.

Uhh... Itachi is dead. There is nothing to haunt Sasuke. In fact on his journey to fight him, when he fought him, and after Itachi died, Sasuke had no Psychological impairment which would have stopped him from his maximum potential, it only made him stronger. An example was when, without the Mangekyou Sharingan, he dispelled Tsukuyomi, the strongest genjutsu in the series.

Uhh... he did cast it on the jinchuuriki Killerbee, however the Hachibi dispelled Tsukuyomi by way of cutting chakra, like any other genjutsu.

Note that Sasuke is aware of the painful side effect of blindness. So he decided to stray away from using the MS, until everything including Tsukuyomi failed, for an Amaterasu.

he was wat 16 years old and could do both ameteratsu and tsukuyomi. Sasuke is about at that age and still cant even control when the ameteratsu comes out that well

Wats your point, he killed his best friend, and unlocked it. Note that Sasuke is also 16 at present, and has unlocked MS.

It was his first time using it!? It takes practice and experience to make it perfect. Cant expect him to just cast the most powerful technique, which hurts painfully for the first time, and expect it at full power. Since you have never seen Itachi cast Amaterasu for the first time, who knows, he may have cast a dodgy little flame as well. Furthermore Sasuke has learnt to remove the fire from the target!? Skills there!?

Uhh... note that Itachi died because of the diseases he contracted, and that he was under the effects of 'polydrugging'*

*Polydrug refers to taking more than one drug at any one time.

Also note, Itachi was not fighting at maximum strength. This would denote Sasuke had an advantage because of that, and he would have lost if he was at full strength.

I don't think that Sasuke will ever surpass Itachi.
He might surpass Itachi at some point but he's dead so I don't think that count.
Plus as I recalled Itachi died of natural cause.

Why did Itachi die again? because Sasuke killed him? huh, I wonder what happened there. I think Kishimoto was tired of Itachi being raped in fandoms and coming out as a butt-hole raping Sasuke, so he decided to kill him in a weak way to show he's a harmless sweet guy!

Sasuke will never surpass Itachi because of the mental damage Itachi has already done to Sasuke. Everytime Sasuke thinks he is getting stronger he will think back to when he and Itachi were kids. Itachi would be going off on an anbu mission and Sasuke would be sitting there still training. That can and will be the click that holds Sasuke back.

No one can really prove it because the strongest ninja we have seen is Itachi, we all have to admit it, and how would Sasuke be able to prove himself against the strongest ninja? Oh wait he's dead, so in that case Itachi will forever be known as the strongest ninja out there, he takes that title to the grave.

We all knew that Sasuke could never defeat Itachi so the creator had to throw in disease and blindness so Sasuke could beat him. If Itachi was actually serious he could defeated sasuke in even in his condition like that no problem. I would have love to see Sasuke get Itachi's eyes and gain the eternal MS of his own though.

That moment when he summoned manda portrays Sasuke has alot of chakra. Not only was he able to summon the snake, he was able to teleport it via a time/space jutsu. Also note, had Sasuke used all his chakra in that fight, Orochimaru would have spawned himself right there and then to take Sasuke, then wait to take Itachi's body.

By proving Sasuke was able to summon manda in such a situation, your actually supporting Sasuke lovers thanks to my unbiased knowledge... but i still lobby for Itachi.

In regards to dncarolyn umm you may hav missed ova this fact or maybe not but umm sasuke didnt beat itachi and lets remember itachi was operatin at less than 50% so it more the fight against deidara where people thought he was really strong and even then he didnt kill deidara he almost died himself had it not been for manda and even then he was severely hurt
