I heard that the original story was made by manga student at the university..
Maybe they inspired themselves of real mangas ^^ ?

We can't prevent that in the world of anime, there is bound to be another character similar to another character in another anime.

And yeah, I agree with Curio and Francisco being similar with Kurogane and Fai.

I agree with you, but I've seen a lot of series with similar characters to Fai and Kurogane, it's weird but I've noticed it too. Doctor Lancelot reminded me of Kyle Rondart from Tsubasa as well, but only physically. And well, there must be a million characters out there that resemble Montesco. But I watched the series a long time ago, so I can't remember those similarities I noticed back then

Francisco and Curio remind me alot of Fai and Kurogane
Their names are similair too.
