Customization versus Out-of-the-box Functionality.

Basically sums up the difference between a PC and a Mac.

You can argue the finer points, but that's basically the two main distinctions that I can find.

That being said, I use PC. Too poor for a Mac. (Also, can't play Touhou Games without Wine or some other program on a Mac)

I will never own anything produced by apple, while I have issues with Microsoft, I do not own an I-pod, I prefer the zune, I will never own an apple computer, usually Windows. While my issue with apple has nothing to do with the quality of the product, it is just because of the dominance they have over all their products. Like with my computer, I like to build computers, and I can never do that with apple, I have to take what they say I get at face value and I just do not like to do that, and when something in the system gets old or out of date, you need to replace the entire system with a mac, where as you can usually just replace the out of date component with a windows based PC. Many people will disagree with me on my post, but I just do not care much for apple in general, while it works for some people, it just is not for me. So I say windows is better.

There no different between Mac and PC both is desktop computer the different is one using leopard OS the other one using Linux or Windows OS either Mac or PC now already using Intel processor the feature of both computer is consider to be the same base on the peripheral of the computer is using but if you talking about the price there is some major different Mac is a lot more expensive than PC even though the feature almost the same and not every country using Mac but PC almost all country using PC because of the price and the simplicity of the system that if you think is the different between PC and MAc | | |

I don't know if either is better than the other. I've used Windows practically all my life and liked using the programs on it. I only got a Mac more recently as well as an iPhone. I have to say that Macs are more flashy but under that are pretty much the same as any other computer. The only reason I would probably get a windows is because I'm more use to it and most everyone I know has a windows computer. It really all depends on what you like and other factors in your life really.

To re-enforce my point.

You mentioned that something faster is always around the corner. This is true, however, unrelated to this topic, so I felt it important to re-enforce my point.

The writing was pretty much on the wall when the transition was announced. Anyone who bought a brand new PPC machine after the announcement was either ignorant, or in desperate need of the hardware (probably for professional work). At that time Apple had already developed a notorious reputation of pushing newer hardware by rapidly dropping support for older hardware and software.

What about the people who bought a brand new PPC machine before the announcement?

Like who? Me? I bought my first mac in the spring before the transition to intel was announced. You buy based on what you need (want?) and the information that is available to you. There will always being something faster that will come in the future. You can do can do all the necessary research and still get something that gets outclassed in a few months or you can get something like a radeon 9700. That's the nature of computing hardware. Caveat Emptor.

Both mac and PC have their ups and down as for me since im in the design business I use both and cant really say which is better.

Macs excel at simplicity and most design professionals will lean toward mac But chances are you can live without it. MAC does make things up in terms of audio and video editing/playback.

PC is cheaper and more versatile. Plus you can also entertain yourself with some high end gaming which MAC really lack.

Mac doubtless, with OS X Leopard, in my case, it is far better that a common PC, it offers a exelent graphic interface and the work surroundings are comfortable as much for edition as design , perhaps is not intuitive like a Windows Vista (it is necessary to have something of knowledge) I speak of software. With respect to the design of hardware, they are elegant.

I always go PC for several reasons:
(a) I find you always have more options in terms of both hardware AND software.
(b) MUCH cheaper hardware.
(c) PCs are more... "general purpose" if you will. They can be used for just about anything.

Pc or Mac
I think a mac is better for Video/Music editing and programming
and a Pc/Windows is better for Gaming, because most Games are designed for Windows
