Umineko no Naku Koro ni is a Sound Novel written by the author of Higurashi. The story revolves around a battle of wits between Battler and Beatrice the Golden Witch. If any of you want to know more, the first three episodes of the novel are translated, just search for it on google and you'll find it. I'll just warn you that Umineko has a real slow start, it takes forever introducing the characters, so you shouldn't feel discouraged about the first couple of episodes. It totally pays off. The only thing to be worried about it's the production values, since Umineko features a lot of action scenes who will just feel awkward if produced with a low budget. Furthermore, it has an awesome soundtrack.

Rika and Tanako (aka Bernkanstel and Lambdadelta respectively) both make appearances, being quite crucial to the plot. It's definitely not flawless, but you should give it a try. Just don't expect it to be like Higurashi, it's quite different from it, and anyone who just wants to see crazy murderous lolis will be disappointed.

I loved the "evil crazy laugh" right before someone turned into murderous-rampage-killing-spree, as well as the art style and shots used. The "nipaa~" got on my nerves tho haha

Higurashi no naku koro ni is one of my favorites, that's for sure!:)
What I like is: you watch the first season, then the second (Kai), and then the first again. It's like so different when you watch the first again.

I love higurashi~~~
It's a bit too bloody but the mystery was worth it. The girls are much better than I thought. Especially Rena and Rika are my favorites xDD

I like Shion, and i felt sorry for her alot through the seiries, (even if she went around killing people) like how she loved Satoshi and he dissappeared.
I don't really like Satoko, I found her to whiney and she really annoyed me...

The series does really evolve rather well, and one of the things I enjoy a great amount is after watching a good string of the show, I know I can go back, watch it again and I'm going to catch things I missed before due to having a better understanding of the situation the characters are involved in.

I remember my friend getting me to watch this and telling me it was a 'murder mystery' genre... So the entire time I was like "pssht I'll figure out who the murderer is before it's made obvious" and I remember watching the first Arc thinking "okay, what in the world did I just watch" XD

And then the second Arc started and I was even more confused X_X

Once Rika gave off that hint in the last few episodes though, I completely figured out what was going on... Season 2 was nice though since everything was put into place and everything that had happened now made sense... lol

Umineko is pretty interesting so far as well
Hope to see it being just as complex as Higurashi was.

I love Higurashi, the way they show everything so innocent and normal, and suddenly someone goes insane and start making some creppy killing! it's beautiful! Rika's suicide was by far one of the best scenes ever!! !

Yeah... this anime have some sick moments, but this is the heart of this kind of series.
