Sometimes,yes.
But then again,the nearest Comic-Shop is 40km from here so I can't go there everyday,and some of the songs I want aren't buyable as singles and I don't have enough money to buy all the DVD's because 1 Death Note DVD including 4episodes costs 19,90Euro here so for all 36 episodes that would be 179,10euro or something...thats a bit much

When I start to make money, I will support the legal copy as far as possible.However, many legal copy commodity value and price not symbol.Lifts the example explanation,when I have bought legal copy CD that doesn't hear pleasantly,I will regret very much. thought that this is the fraud.

I feel bad, but I have no cash to spare to get anime, I have only 2 series that I personally own. I never download song as I only know a few words in Japanese.

Not really, to be honest.

Although admitting it DOES make me feel guilty. xD I would gladly support an artist if their albums/soundtracks are available for purchase in a NA edition. The same goes for J-Pop artists like Utada Hikaru and BoA, both whose albums have been released in the States. I would more than happy spend a few bucks to support their fame overseas, of course. n__n

When it comes to songs that need to be bought online however (especially the ones that only accept their country's currency), you just can't help it . . you know?

Nope, I don't feel any remorse at all, because I always buy legal copies whenever they become available and funnel as much of my hard earned cash as possible into anime goods! It's impossible for them to squeeze blood from a stone, and it's impossible for me to be a customer for a product they aren't selling to me as a consumer in my own country.

I think what matters is that you go to the lengths you can to support the industry economically. If you're 14 & a student and you've got no job, & you live somewhere other than Japan, then you can't really be considered a customer, since you don't have any income to make purchases with and you aren't in a region where the product is being sold. It's only people who have the means both monetarily & geographically to buy anime who don't that infuriate me.

It's very difficult for me to obtain official cds where I live and I only order something over the internet if I liked the entire soundtrack or something. I do feel slightly bad about downloading anime openings/endings, but I think it's a bigger priority to buy the actual anime dvds than music anyway.

For me, I like to preview what I'll be buying, since if I like a show/song I'll buy it. I'm not going to waste good money on something that's a piece of crap. Also, if something is not state side (Violinist of Hameln, Eden of the East, Merlin) then I wait until it is, or well, will ever be. unfortunately there is a ton of good anime out there and TV shows that do not get state release. If it ever did, I would buy it.

In example, I had downloaded the entire series of Jigoku Shoujo, and when it was released over here, I threw out my burnt DVD's for the pretty ones that were released.

Same thing with songs. I'll preview a song first and if I like it I"ll buy it, providing I can find where to buy it/if it's available to be bought.

Not at all really. I see it as a 'try before you buy' sort of thing with music, if the album is good, then it should be bought. I think it's better than some people though, who just download their songs without supporting those who they think are good. It's still illegal though...

Same thing goes for anime. If it is really truly good, then I would buy it... I'm not really sure bought the legalities of that though...

Most of my downloaded anime(probably 70-75% of it) are fansubs that were at the time unavailable for sale in my language. For those there is NO guilt whatsoever. If you are not willing to sell to me(at least at the time) I don't feel need to pay you as long as I am not directly taking money from you(I.e, I will download copy bytes, but I wouldn't break into the studio/server to steal a hard copy, one costs the company money the other is neither costing nor making them money).

As for the anime I have nabbed that are available. I usually feel a slight twinge. Anime is way to expensive for me to buy at the time(as is manga), however, my library system is really good so I can get a fair chunk through the library. Sadly though I sometimes forget to check to see if it is in English before reading/watching, thus sometimes I watch something when I should have waited for it to come in through the library. This is particularly so since I enjoy watching anime on my TV(this way I can use my computer for other things while watching anime).

As for music. I should feel bad, but the music CD's that I have looked at are way expensive for what is on them(paying nearly 20 bucks for 1 song that I like is just silly). Though I suppose I should check if one of those music service things accepts money-orders and carries the J-Pop songs I like.

I usually buy CDs if I really like the music, even if I have to import. But for the most part, I usually just download my music first to see if I like it enough to buy it... I don't really feel bad about it, since I'll pay for it if I like it, and delete it if I don't.

And of course, I don't actually buy everything I like, only the really good ones.

As for anime... DVDs are really expensive, and half the time, they either don't have an uncut version included on the DVD, or they're just not releasing series that I'm interested in watching. I have VERY few anime series that I actually own, and I usually don't feel bad about downloading it because I delete it after I watch it once.

I’ve refrained from pirating a lot of music because I like having the music in physical form. I also like to support artists I like. I like seeing the albums stacked together, looking at the liner notes, the booklets, and all that shit. If people come to my house I want them looking at my music collection. If people see my library, and they find musical acts ranging from B.I.G. to Pink Floyd to Sinatra, it says you’re not restricted to one type of music, and I want people to know that about me.

However, that doesn’t count toward soundtracks, and that’s why the music I pirate tends to be soundtracks, especially anime, and game OSTs. The nerd factor comes into play here. It doesn’t look so cool when you’ve got Gundam Wing, Kingdom Hearts, or Metal Gear in your CD rack. That combined with the increased difficulty in finding some of these OSTs just add more incentive for me to download them (where the Hell am I going to find the Berserk OST?!).

I download songs because I do not have the money to go out and buy all the songs I want. If I really like an anime and their soundtrack I will definitely buy it!
