It's wonderful how in one episode, so much of the balance has shifted. Knowing that Yin is alive has restored some humanity in Hei, his resolve has changed, Suou faces some of the gray areas of becoming an adult, and a layer of the mystery is peeled open. Though there is still much to unravel, I think I'm regaining trust in the direction and pacing of the show. Also, I personally like squirrel Mao better than cat Mao. He's much more expressive, and the kind of absurd comedy of him in that body is the best humor the show has to offer. Almost matching that humor, episode six, was July making tea. I don't know what I found so strangely funny about it this time compared to before, but the look on his face combined with how washed out he looked with the color of his hair, skin, cap, and shirt, and the suspenders just tickled me unexpectedly. This kind of subtle juxtaposition works a lot better than the armor contractor and his slapstick ways.

Finally, Norio at the end of the episode ruined what could have been a good moment. This is the kind of thing Bones doesn't need to do because it just doesn't mesh. Be heavy or be light. Don't try to do both to appeal to everyone.

Section 3 or the Syndicate, doesn't matter as they are the same organization or not, as they are clearly the BAD guys.. in my opinion haha. I don't think Suou is a PURE contractor ...as contractor's motive is based on logic and common sense, love and interest are the least thing with logic and common sense, even though she's probably just a contractor-to-be.

For Suou feelings about Yin, I think there may be no connection with Norio. She mention him at the house only about topic of liking somebody and then a flashback where she reminds that Hei call her name. She's jealous of Yin maybe because of Yin's past with Hei, as Yin had spent more time with Hei than herself. She kicks the pipe after she saw Yin's ghost holding Hei's arm. Suou makes a deal with Hei that she will stop shooting somebody if Hei will stop drinking alcohol, which is clearly not-contractor-alike, with no benefit to herself, unless you include the love interest...

Hei is not older than 30, is he? I think even he is much older than he looks, he will not get past 25 or 24... and saying that Hei is a lolicon is...XD he should be a SISCON, Yin and Suou is clearly the sister-like type character. For Misaki, I don't think she have interest for Hei... BK201 is much more like her target. She feels that capturing BK201 is like her mission in life, and she might want to ask Hei about his past at Heaven Gate and info about Hell Gate, and also his past which makes him known for the Black Reaper.

when he used his alcohol for cooking and then says 'don't shoot anymore' to Suou and this music starts... ~_~
And he seems to quit being an alc-addict now...

You really get to know a lot more about Hei and his feelings in thi season, and it's so more emotional.

Also what kinda came up to my mind was "zomg is it just me or did july grow like nothing in these 2 years?" o.O
Any opinions on that? I just have the feeling that in 2 years he should kinda look older now... especially cuz he's a kid... (I mean look how Hei mangaded to change in that time lol xD)

Ups, accidentaly deleted my post. So here is it again...

I would like to see more Hei action :D I don't think that Suoo is that bad. She's just fine, but imo her contractor skill isn't cool. Hei's skill was so much cooler. And I hope to see Hei and Misaki together ^^ I like Misaki very much :)

I really love the OP. I love that band Stereopony, the lead singer is so hot ;)
And I get all pumped up by the funky beat when Hei is in action. I hope to find out what song that is. I really want it...

I now feel in need to also mention the amazing Original Soundtrack of DTB2, it seems of a way higher quality than in the first season. Like almost every sequence is underlinded by amazingly dramatical music that perfectly fits the mood of the scene, and often you hear even vocals in the bg music. I think that's one of the major improvements from season one.
The Opening and Ending are fine too^^ ABS ftw xDDD

And I find the new main char girl not thaaat annoying like some people here, Hei is still a cooler protagonist, but it's not like he vanished... (almost every fighting scene features him for example). And I have a feeling although the main focus lies not on him anymore, we will get to know much more about him and his personality than in season one, so Hei fans won't be dissapointed I think^^
btw that pink-haired detective girl in season one was much more annoying than any new char, IMO she totally didn't fit into the series...

I haven't seen the season two.
I like to watch it after it finished. I hate the feeling of waiting now ...

I have to agree on that Cloud, but since Hei is my favorite character I am a bit bummed out that he is become a hobo and thus less cool. But I love the new characters too and of course Kirihara is back too. I keep on looking forward to the next episodes, which mean it is good :)

I haven't seen that many 2009 shows, but I think FMAB / DTB / Bakemonogatari are the best ones this year. Still have to finish watching Eden of the East, but that one is great aswell so far.

Okay i finally managed to complete season 1 somehow @@
I started DTB II right after, and have to say it seems pretty good so far.
Animation quality is as good as it used to be and the introduction of the new characters went pretty well. A bit unexpected was that some characters of season one died right in the first episode oO (like April), I wouldn't have guessed so.
I also like how u're being thrown right into the story without lot of explaining stuff first. The fights were pretty cool too. (effects and stuff)
I also think that the development of Hei to a drinking wreck was a smart move by the creators to make the series more interesting, can't wait for explaining flashbacks. =)
Well as for now Darker Than Black II seems to be the best series (along with FMAB) of 2009 so far (in my opinion of course).

I've seen the first few episodes. I've got to tell you, it seems quite a lot has changed. Even Hei's undergone a drastic change.

I knew after the ending of the 1st season, they will not leave hanging like that it is. (My hunch was confirmed with the leaked info about sequel of Darker than Black last year). Months before, they released teasers and revealed new characters for the second installment. My impression was BONES had dropped the ball since the make Suou as the main character and Hei sort like Kira Yamato in SEED Destiny. Darker than Black would become a shoujo anime. But, I reserve my criticism until they premier it.

When they finally premier the first episode, it was going to be some sort shoujo storyline. Suou life a normal high school student with issues that are common with the girl at her age; friends, love and trivial things. With addition that her twin brother now a contractor, she was still a dreamer. At mid series, her life completely turned 180 degrees. Her best friend was now awaken, FSB, CIA and MI6 wants to get their hands on Shion and his unknown powers and she wake up in the gritty reality of world Contractor. I was wow and the series has potential to keep in par with the predecessor or better surpass it. And, Contractors keep on dying like flies on each episode. I AM liking it.

As usual, OP serve as a teaser of whats to come. I never thought

I never had time to watch it...
Well but I think it's cool that they made another one, because I really liked that anime so far (and I don't expect them to screw it up to the end).
Now I really have a reason to finish this anime. ^^
