Ecchi in Anime http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ en-us Tue, 07 Feb 2006 23:00:12 -0500 AnimePaper RSS Generator http://static2.animepaper.net/images/v5/icons/ap-logo-sm.gif animepaper.net http://www.animepaper.net/ Animepaper site syndication ~youremyhiro http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ Yeah, dont get me wrong Im am an ecchi supporter but massive amounts of gratuitous panty shots mess up a storyline. Tue, 07 Feb 2006 23:00:12 -0500 ~jtchen85 http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ I'm certainly not against any form of ecchi, but it is annoying when there's perhaps *too much* ecchi. For example, in certain episodes of Shuffle it's nothing but panty shots. Don't get me wrong, panty shots are great but there is a point where it's overdone and just annoying. Tue, 07 Feb 2006 11:13:19 -0500 ~niomea http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ To my personal opinion, ecchi is only few steps away from hentai, which is, a pure porn.

To some extent I can take ecchi as a comedic and entertaining way, but I can only tolerate that much. Too much 'fanservice' will definitely spoil the story, and it ruined my vision too. I tend to think less of anime with plentiful ecchi scene and to some point even loathe such anime.

I don't want to be a hypocrit by saying that ecchi should not be there for some moral judgement. We are all old enough to choose which one is good for us, but certainly, there are much more other way to make an anime fun without too much bouncing breast or itsy bitsy tiny skirt. Tue, 07 Feb 2006 11:00:53 -0500 $aaronvps http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ *sighs, shrugs*

Whatever sell the copies. I try to block out the gratuity. Sometimes, it's just a device to break tension or make a situation embarassing for the veiwer. Not much gets to me anymore . . . must be the New Yorker in me.

Regards, Aaron Sun, 05 Feb 2006 09:17:54 -0500 ~-0buRiZe0- http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ ~just think of ecchi as added spices to make anime more flavorful.. :) and to me, i do not see anything wrong with that, it's really funny sometimes.. haha Sun, 05 Feb 2006 09:06:39 -0500 ~thebonehead http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ Some of it is ok. But, when it gets to the point where there is no plot, what's the point of having that "anime"? Sun, 05 Feb 2006 00:56:52 -0500 ~LovelyElfDeedlit http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ I like ecchi animes the ones i've seen are all decent animes plus i think its funny to watch the guys in those animes blush so much. Sun, 05 Feb 2006 00:51:28 -0500 ~zanmato666 http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ I don't mind a little ecchi here and there :P. I've got to say though it's a good attention grabber. Sat, 04 Feb 2006 06:37:05 -0500 ~dnandre http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ Ecchi content...hmm...well its not a big deal for me as long as the storyline is good, some anime like Midori no Hibi, Shuffle, or Girls Bravo had some ecchi, but i like them because of the story, ecchi is not good for kids, but is not bad for me :P Sat, 04 Feb 2006 03:38:54 -0500 ~meows http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ Kakashi0 ^______^ exactly!! Sat, 04 Feb 2006 03:26:49 -0500 ~bathazar http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ Its how the artist/creator wants it -shrug- Sat, 04 Feb 2006 02:12:17 -0500 ~Diabound00 http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ I think it's always the same: if a series is bad then get some erotic in it. However I nevertheless like ecchi. Sat, 04 Feb 2006 02:06:02 -0500 °Kakashi0 http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/ Lol, I have no problemw ith it like im sure half the people in here said already its sex cells, and thats a good thing. xD Fri, 03 Feb 2006 21:04:16 -0500 ~Nanami-K http://www.animepaper.net/forums/rss/692/

KKKEEENNN

Exactly, the animation of ecchi elements in anime is trying to grabbing our attention in the most craziest of ways, but it's not always about how badly the cam is up a anime girl skirt, but the detail and animation for that part. Obviuosly, it's freedom of speech, so they can add on as much ecchi as they want, as long there is a plot, then the anime would be sucessful.

Barnstormer

I don't mind ecchi or fanservice, but an anime series (or any series for that matter) has to have a decent story and characters, or it's all worthless. Goldenboy and Girls Bravo are examples of ecchi anime, a step above typical fan service but just a knotch below hentai. I enjoyed both of these titles, even if they weren't phenomenal. On the other hand, Amaenaideyo had fan service galour, but it was horrible. This is an example of where the writers relied completely on fan service rather than a solid plot to sell the show, and this was a big mistake. In the end it's up to individual taste, but to me, an anime needs substance if it's going to work.

I agree. If writers want to input some fanservice, give the anime a decent story or make it enjoyable, to say the least. After all, why just showcase sexy bodies why their acting is mediocre.

But tastes in ecchi will depend on the country where it would be localized. In European countries such as France, ecchi can have a field because the people there are liberal (especially when you would see bare-breasted showgirls on TV). However, in more conservative countries such as the US, they have to pass the censors and edit out the ecchi. Just my say.
