Hehe, I'm still the flaming turkey of doom. Phoenix would be my first choice, but of course that name is taken. Red-Eclipse is just another name I use online, mostly in online games, etc.

Heya. Just thought I'd let you know, your digital painting on your wolf wallpaper is really one of the best that I have ever seen. They should have that in an art gallery somewhere!! Well done

Thank you for commenting on my "amidst the smoke" wallpaper!
im not quite sure what I would've done if I had succeeded in painting the scan, since I think about the background and stuff after I play around with the scan.
But I would've chosen a darker background and a little less textures

Pay homage to MC Escher with an Aria wallpaper.

I don't quite fully understand the concept.

I've been in awe of the way Escher plays with perspective in his work, e.g. Relativity, Belvedere, Ascending and Descending and Waterfall.

Something about the arches and canals in Aria appeals to me, begging to be used in distorted perspective artwork.

Haven't watched/read Aria either

Me neither, just thought the art was really good from looking at manga scans and official art. Plus, as above, it seemed suited for the concept.

But it's really nothing more than a vague concept at this point, don't even have a composition in mind.

Ooh, I've always wanted to try that too; and I'd earmarked the Misa/train idea for that -- check out the closeup screencap.

I'm not up to doing a collab atm

Aw... but in case you were setting expectations too high as to what collabing might entail -- with my current schedule, I'm nowhere near full walling capacity myself; what I had in mind was gradual progress as and when free time allowed, no rushing.

Let me know if you're still game for the deathnote idea. If not, I'll probably just go back to fixing up the flaws from my minitokyo w?w round 7 wall for now... (boring!)

... and you're asking someone who always has more wips (mostly abortive) than complete wallpapers... heh.

Here are a couple of really challenging (potentially epic) ideas from my todo pile:

1. Pay homage to MC Escher with an Aria wallpaper. The setting of the series, particularly the architecture (so many columns!) and water (canals!) just seems so apt, and should offer much potential. I've collected some possible scans for this, but haven't made any serious effort beyond that.

2. Delacroix's La Liberté guidant le peuple parody featuring Nodame Cantabile. I've already picked out the manga scans to correspond with the painting itself, and made weak (failed) attempts at prepping the background layer. Lots of very difficult vectoring/repainting, re-posing characters, etc.

Death Note - Misa in train
Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora
Kanon - Mai fighting in school corridor.
(I still less-than-three shots with interesting perspective!)

And yes, I'm in Los Angeles these days. It's been fun! (mundane domestic chores aside >_<;;) I hope you're having as much fun staying overseas as I am.

Speaking of chores, no amount of washing, cleaning, cooking and shopping can detract from your legendary waller status!

Photography? You must show us!

As for procrastination... always a good thing, heh. As a grad student, I can now truly say that I procrastinate professionally! (All I've been making lately are "toy" wallpapers to avoid becoming rusty, though.) If procrastination is what brings you back to AP, you need to procrastinate more, heheh.

So, has the time come for a dramatic comeback with an epic wallpaper? *rolls up sleeves* I'm ready. Bring it on.

Alternatively, you might also want to do something for the latest round of the MT which?waller guessing game, or filling in one of the remaining gaps in the 100 themes project...
